Persecution of Christians is on the way up in America, giving today's believers a taste of what the early church had to face. The word of God gives clear direction on how Christians should to respond to an antagonistic culture. It also tells us how not to respond. Today, Dr. Lutzer summarizes how to live in a godly way in an increasingly godless society.

There is no doubt: Christians are under attack. The media and current culture combine to belittle those with faith in Jesus. So how should genuine believers react? Nowadays it seems easier to keep a low profile, go quietly to church, and not make a fuss. But this is hardly obeying the Great Commission. Today: another look at the conflicts inherent in being a child of God these days.

Many Americans are up in arms that our soldiers are dying in Iraq. They feel that there is nothing over there worth dying for. There was a time when there were things worth dying for...times like the middle ages, when corrupt religion had to be confronted by true believers who often paid with their lives. Conflict is truly inevitable. As much as we would like to "just get along," there come times when we cannot.

America has been called a melting pot...of cultures and races, for sure, and these days, it is a melting pot for religions. Trouble is, varying religions do not melt together very well. Despite America's Judeo-Christian roots, it is now necessary to censor the Ten Commandments even when they hang over courtroom benches. Today: a story of conflict, and how to handle it.

Think about this: what would happen if, every time we met someone, we treated the encounter as a divine appointment? It might change our whole approach to other people. God uses seemingly chance meetings as points of contact for the gospel. That is what happened in Acts chapter 8, and what can happen in the chapter of God's work we are writing today.

Ever wonder if your coming to faith in Christ was an accident, just coincidence, or maybe just a good choice on your part? Not a chance. "Salvation is of the Lord," the Bible says, and that includes the circumstances of your conversion. In Acts chapter 8 God went to unusual lengths to get the gospel to a needy Ethiopian. And He did the same for you and for me.

These days, people look to their personal digital assistants, or PDAs, to find out what is next on their busy schedules. Keeping appointments is crucial for business success. But God has a heavenly PDA for His people, and sometimes makes sudden changes in His list of things for us to do. Today: how the Holy Spirit sets the agenda for a child of God.

While we focus everyday on the here and now, eternity awaits us. Those who know Christ have a glorious future ahead of them. The doorway to heaven is the death of the believer. When Stephen was martyred, he had a vision of Jesus welcoming him home. For those who fear death, this can be your vision as well.

Most people invest heavily in their futures. Savings accounts and retirement plans give us comfort for those "golden years." But wise believers know that the real future lies in the hands of God, not in any plans we can make. Like the martyr Stephen, our ultimate destiny lies beyond this life. Today: you will hear about the eternal future ahead for a child of God.

In seeking employees, interviewers look for the right education and experience. But for workers in the body of Christ, it is different. God's list of qualifications for kingdom jobs includes character and spiritual maturity. And having the "wisdom from above" is a key requirement. Today: finding your way into the place God has for you in a local church.
