Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. Society says getting in debt is normal. If your credit card isn’t maxed out, something must be wrong with you. Sadly, debt is destroying all too many marriages and families. When people feel they have to live beyond their means, what’s the answer?

The central component of marriage is “leaving and cleaving.” After the wedding vows, we leave our parents’ authority and live with our mates in a new home without the meddling of relatives.   Otherwise, our marriage can be in great danger.

Buyer’s remorse is common. We have all wondered if an appliance we bought was really the best choice. But when it comes to marriage, there’s no place for buyer’s remorse. We have to let go of “what might have been” and honor the vow we’ve made, “for better or for worse.”

When two people consider marriage, they’re often in a fog called “being in love.” Faults in the other party are overlooked. It’s only after the ceremony that reality sets in. This message exposes more myths about marriage, and shows how to make marriage work God’s way.

Rising crime and divorce rates bear sad testimony to families with poor male role models, or none at all. It is vital that fathers lead their families in the right direction. The next generation depends on it, and right now the outlook is grim.

It runs deep in every culture. The father is the breadwinner, and the mother cares for the home. This partnership is as old as creation itself, though modern thinking tries to subvert the natural roles God gave men and women. Let’s look more on the father’s role in the family.

Society confuses the natural roles of men and women. Feminists want men to feel that it is wrong to be masculine. This often results in families with either weak husbands, or no husbands at all. Let’s seek God’s view of the role of a father.

Our culture tries to convince women that putting “homemaker” on a resume doesn’t cut it. But no job is as tough as being a mother, especially when that mother is a single mom. Let’s examine what the church should do to help these women.
