Running To Win

Dr. Erwin W. Lutzer

The Omniscience of God, Part 3 of 3 (The Mysteries of God)

May 26, 2016

The complexity of the human body is awe-inspiring. We take for granted that we each have some 34 trillion cells, each one packed with volumes of information. Even to such incredible precision, we can say with certainty that God knows us.

When You’ve Been Wronged
Conflict in relationships is inevitable, but healing and reconciliation often is not. Time and again we've tried every option and failed, and all we are left with is a load of guilt and pain. Pastor Erwin Lutzer shows how the blessing the Lord gives to those who suffer unjustly is worth the pain involved. He also illustrates the need to leave our broken relationships in the hands of God and move forward in our lives toward freedom. Psalm 139 tells us that God knows everything. Nothing is hid from His gaze, even the children who inhabit their mothers’ wombs. In this Psalm, we rejoice that God cared for us even before we’re born.

As kids, we would play “hide and seek.” God does not need to play such games. By virtue of His perfect knowledge and His all-present nature, He knows our location and even our thoughts. He has an exhaustive knowledge of all things, both actual and potential.

God knows that believers cannot fully comprehend His eternality. The eternal God, according to His grace, watches over us during our brief spans of life. Psalm 90 tells about His provision, helping us hang on until we see Him face to face.

In Psalm 90, Moses wrote, “from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” He compares God’s eternality to our short spans of life, reminding us to “number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

Psalm 90 is an explosion of praise to the God Who always was and always will be. Moses wrote, “From everlasting to everlasting you are God.” The eternal Lord created everything - time, matter, and space. And He fills and surpasses the created universe.

The Bible tells us about God and His purposes. Everything is not crystal clear. There are mysteries we will not understand in this life. But in our pursuit of knowing God, let us delve into the mystery seeking to comprehend the infinite God according to His self-revelation in the Scriptures.

We are to thoroughly love God, casting off every weight and sin that besets us. Then, we can run life’s race at top speed, knowing that the finish line will bring us face to face with the God we love.
May 17, 2016
Believers are to give God first place in their lives, running life’s race for no other reason than to express their love for Him. We’re commanded to love God supremely. Everything else takes second place.
May 16, 2016
Believers are to run life’s race for Christ, who taught us to love God with all our being as the first and greatest commandment. But how can we do that? That command seems impossible to fulfill.
May 13, 2016
When a man or woman believes in Christ, many deep-seated desires change. We become givers rather than hoarders, and God wants us to see our money as a trust to manage, not a possession to squander.
