Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. Ancient Babylon’s leaders had no idea that their time was up. A festive party ended in the King’s death, and God’s judgment was served. Modern America also has no idea how many minutes are left on its ticking clock. In this message, we will see our handwriting on the wall.

The judgment of God may be long in coming, but it can come with a vengeance. For ancient Babylon, that time came when Daniel foretold the doom of Babylon’s king. We in America should take heed, as his story might well be ours.

During persecution, some believers are spared; others go through torture and death. Some wonder why God doesn’t deliver all of His people, since He surely could. In this message, Pastor Lutzer shares an answer to a vexing problem we all face as we try to understand God.

Kings can become very angry when disobeyed. Daniel’s friends said “no” to Babylon’s king and were tossed into a fiery furnace. God does not always deliver His people from harm, but this time He did. And one king found out who was really in charge.

Every day, government pressure mounts on the Christian faith. How should believers react? We can look to a similar time of persecution long ago for guidance. The place was Babylon, and the minority Jews were in the hot seat.

Daniel’s friends went along with their Babylonian captors, but drew the line when their consciences told them to. Some life situations force us to make tough choices. Today we will learn how to live by the Bible’s principles when making them.

When the government creates a law, and the Bible tells us to do the opposite, what do we do? The answers are not always clear, since we are called to obey those who rule over us. We can learn from four men handled who this in ancient Babylon.
