The Light Shines In A Prison Part 1

October 7, 2022

How do we share the good news in hostile places? Because Paul and Silas believed the Gospel was the power of God, they weren’t intimidated in new territory. In this message from Acts 16, we discover three conditions of our hearts, much like the Philippians—the first converts in Europe. Even in the darkest of places, we can have faith and courage.

When You’ve Been Wronged
Conflict in relationships is inevitable, but healing and reconciliation often is not. Time and again we've tried every option and failed, and all we are left with is a load of guilt and pain. Pastor Erwin Lutzer shows how the blessing the Lord gives to those who suffer unjustly is worth the pain involved. He also illustrates the need to leave our broken relationships in the hands of God and move forward in our lives toward freedom. When we pray for an hour by ourselves, we’re not actually alone. In Gethsemane, Jesus asked the disciples to pray with Him. They fell asleep. In this message, we consider anew how to face the struggles we have today in praying with Christ. How can we lay ahold of the privilege of prayer before the throne of grace?

If it’s true that our schedules reflect our priorities, how important is God to us? In the garden of Gethsemane, the disciple’s fell asleep, causing the Savior to ask, “Could you not pray with Me for one hour?” In this message, we ponder four questions to guide us in praying with Christ for an hour of time. Let’s pray fervently, not wasting the time we have.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, globalization is not what it was. How do we interpret the developments of compromised national borders, technological advances in A.I., and economic shifts? Language can be misused to censor thought or even to shape our view of reality. As the church responds to propaganda, the rise of LGBTQ and preferred pronouns, as well as the faith deconstruction movement, we must speak the truth in love. In this interview, Pastor Erwin Lutzer exhorts us to speak up, taking the consequences. We cannot live by lies.

In this interview, Pastor Erwin Lutzer discusses why he wrote the book “No Reason To Hide” as a guide to navigate our culture’s lies with a biblical worldview. Let’s represent Christ well.

Our lives may be chaotic but there’s still time to pursue a legacy that honors God. On his deathbed, David’s country and his family were in turmoil—of his own making. In this message, we listen to David’s blessing based on God and His promises. Are we ready to die in peace, satisfied in God?

When we look back on our lives, we often have painful regrets. King David did on his deathbed. In this message from 2 Samuel 23, we look at three clouds that hovered over David: clouds of disloyalty, judgment, and family breakup. Let’s attend to his dying days as we prepare for eternity.

When we sin morally, God promises to forgive us when we repent. But the consequences of sin remain, as they did for King David with his ruptured relationships and divided kingdom. In this message, we honestly examine lessons for us from David’s family conflict. Don’t ever underestimate what God can do with a mess.

When our kids turn against us, the pain can be unbearable. King David’s moral authority in his family eroded in later years, and he knew this pain well. In this message, we identify three deficiencies in David’s response to his son’s rebellion. Though our reputation and family may be compromised, we can find healing through God’s grace.
