The Lie That Jesus Has A Dark Secret

March 20, 2008
Live Interview
Many people have skeletons in their closets: carefully hidden secrets no one can ever know, lest their reputations be ruined. Some today are saying that Jesus has a skeleton in His closet: that He had a human father and was not virgin-born as the Bible teaches. Those who want to minimize the New Testament Jesus spread this lie to make Jesus just natural, not supernatural. Why does it matter?

Live InterviewIf the claims of Christ are true, then there is no other way to eternal life than through His sacrifice and salvation from sin. Many today cannot tolerate the exclusivity of Jesus' claims. They want to refashion Him as just another man...a unique man, to be sure, but just a man. They have decided to edit the New Testament to remove supernatural references and help us get back to "the real Jesus."

Live InterviewConspiracy theorists have taken to the internet like bees to a flower. Imagine any kind of wild scheme, and you will find it there. Those who want to revise history's view of Jesus have come up with a radical concept: that Judas was not a traitor, but rather, a man who helped Jesus attain his metaphysical destiny. Today, we will sort out another lie being spread about the Son of God.

Live InterviewThe central focus of the Christian faith is the cross. Here Jesus paid the price for sin, opening the way to eternal life. But not all have that life. In fact, many are trying to reinvent Jesus as a mere man, a teacher who meant well but ended badly. Some say He never went to the cross, but was so loved by God that He was taken directly to heaven. Today: another lie about Jesus is debunked.

In some cultures, offending a revered prophet is a sure way to lose your head. But no one complains if Jesus' name is reviled. Through lies and distortions, the Son of God is being repackaged. Whether in "The Da Vinci Code" or in the Jesus Seminar, a new Jesus is emerging...one that bears scant resemblance to the Jesus of the New Testamant. Today: Dr. Lutzer's answer begins.

If you ever wanted to know how God feels when we turn to Him in repentance, take a long look at Luke chapter 15. All of us are prodigal sons, and our Father rejoices when we come back to Him. But some of us are like the elder brother who cried "unfair" when his sinning brother sought forgiveness. Today: what Jesus thinks about the lost people in your life.

Jesus used simple parables to explain eternal truth. Though simple, these stories carry profound implications. In the gospel of Luke, He spoke of seeking a lost coin and compared it to seeking a lost soul, teaching us the value of every person we meet. Today: why seeking the lost was His great mission, and why it should be our great mission as well.

Many runners seek fame, fortune, or the glory of Olympic gold. Christians running life's race have a different motive. Believers run to please Jesus, the "Author and Finisher" of their faith. They want to advance His kingdom, and bring people to know Him personally. So, what is involved in seeking the lost?

The race of life often takes Christians into the heart of town. And as believers follow Christ there, amazing things can happen. When Jesus comes to town, revival often follows. People are convicted of sin, restitution is made, and spiritual life flows where it never had before. Has Jesus come to your town?

As a believer, you run life's race on a track made just for you. Your road is not always easy, but it's end is sure. We get to the goal by faithfully following Christ, whose life was lived to minister to people. And taking His gospel to those needy people is our primary reason for running the race.

Many of the major figures in the Scriptures spent a lot of time in the desert. Here, God could get their full attention. The Apostle Paul and even Christ Himself found strength and direction in a place we would call inhospitable. We are finding that the desert is really not an option...all of us need to get used to sand.
