The Lie That God Is More Tolerant Than He Was 3

August 15, 2007
For too many of us, very little is permanent. Fads come, and fads go. We forget that God never changes. His love never changes, and His justice never changes. His opinion of our sin never changes either. Today: more on the lie that God is more tolerant than He used to be…a lie we must all renounce.

When You’ve Been Wronged
Conflict in relationships is inevitable, but healing and reconciliation often is not. Time and again we've tried every option and failed, and all we are left with is a load of guilt and pain. Pastor Erwin Lutzer shows how the blessing the Lord gives to those who suffer unjustly is worth the pain involved. He also illustrates the need to leave our broken relationships in the hands of God and move forward in our lives toward freedom. In the Old Testament, sin was judged quickly, and harshly. Nowadays it seems that sin goes virtually unpunished. Why? The answer lies in the distinction between God's character and His administration of creation. Today: why believing that God has changed is tantamount to believing a dangerous lie - one you cannot afford to believe.

Since many believe man evolved, so they think God has evolved. No longer mean, He is now a gentler, kinder God. And that is lie number two in our series about God: the lie that God is more tolerant than He used to be. Get set, because today, another myth is going to be debunked.

For some reason, many of us would be more mindful of proper protocol in meeting the President than we would be in meeting God. We are learning that God can only be approached through the right mediator: and that mediator between God and man is Jesus Christ. Today: some final thoughts on the great lie that we can come to God in any way we want.

A lot of people think they can come to God any way they like, little realizing that He can only be approached in one way. Pause in your daily race of life and consider that what you think about God might be fundamentally wrong. Lay aside your preconceptions and listen to what God Himself says about how to find Him. Today: why coming to God only happens through the right sacrifice.

It is popular to think that we can approach God any way we like. "All roads lead to Rome," people say. Yeah, they say that. Trouble is, the Bible does not say that. In fact, it says quite the opposite. Far from offering a spiritual smorgasbord, the Bible thunders that there is only one way to approach the Almighty. Before you buy into "pick your favorite God," listen to today's broadcast.

If you believe a lie long enough, for you it becomes the truth. Many of us harbor falsehoods that can send us to hell. Please stop in your race of life long enough to consider that you may be among those who believe wrongly about God. This is serious stuff: nothing is more important than what you believe about Him.

Some see the gospel like the Augusta Golf Club - too exclusive. They would much rather have a menu of beliefs to choose from. "After all, you have your truth and I have mine," they say. Today, we will see that God only has one way to Himself, and it is a way He has designed. Our obligation: to believe what He has revealed about His Son, and thereby find eternal life.

Not even the most egotistical guru has ever said "I am the way, the truth, and the life." Only Jesus said that. Today: a challenge to those who say that Jesus was just another great teacher - He is either a liar, a madman, or God in the flesh. There are no other alternatives. What do you think of Jesus?

People accept the fact of only one speed of light, and only one moon around the earth. But only one way to God? Say that, and you are ignored at best, hated at worst. The claims of Jesus to be the exclusive path to eternal life forces us to decide: do I go with my instincts, or do I go with Jesus?

It is a force you cannot see, but you can certainly feel. It is everywhere, telling people what is OK for them to believe. That force is political correctness, and when it comes to the Christian faith, it is out in full strength. Today: how to witness in a day when people tolerate everything but the truth.
