Tell an Olympic runner that "it doesn't matter which track you race on, all are equally good," and he'll think you came from Mars. He knows the winner only gets the gold medal at the track that counts. It's the same with God. There's only one way to reach Him, and that's through His son, the Lord Jesus Christ. If this sounds too exclusive for you, please stay with us.

Job learned a great lesson in his unspeakable time of suffering. And to be able to face the unknowns of life, so must we. Victorious runners in life's race know that they are clay in the Potter's hands. And the Potter can do whatever He wishes with His clay. Can you accept this bottom-line reality? And what's more, can you embrace it? Today: the end of a life-changing series.

Behind the seeming randomness of the calamities that befall us lies the purpose of God. Only heaven may reveal that. It all comes down to this: as we run the race of life, we must learn to trust the God Whose purposes we can't understand. That's the lesson of the book of Job. Stay with us as we near the end of a long series seeking the answers to the great "why" questions of life.

Hidden in the councils of heaven are the answers to the heartfelt cries of millions of people who simply want to know "why?" As we run the race of life, we encounter troubles we can't explain...and circumstances we can't possibly deserve. We seek a reason for our pain, and perhaps only eternity will reveal those answers we crave.

On the ground, we see stalks of corn. But from the air, we see a patchwork quilt of farmland. It's all in the perspective. In the race of life, we can't see what lies ahead. No crystal ball can reveal what tomorrow holds. Like Job, we must learn to place our trust in the One Who holds the future: the One Who is painting the great picture we will one day be able to see.

When He speaks, all other voices are silenced. All creation pauses to listen. When God speaks, the skies thunder. We can know that our running of life's race has a purpose, even when we suffer along the way. Job learned this from the Voice in the whirlwind. If you're going through unspeakable pain today, listen with us to that Voice, and listen to what God is saying.

When we face severe trials, we ask "Why?" We may never know the answer. But for a suffering Job of old, the answer was dramatic. We who run life's race serve a God Whose purposes are often hidden from us. We're called to trust His heart even when we can't understand His actions. Today's broadcast will teach us that God transcends our limited viewpoint of His will.

In many ways, God is hidden to us. We cannot fathom His purposes. Still, we persevere in faith, knowing He's active. Runners in life's race must learn that God is too big for anyone to comprehend. A man named Job was sorely tested by God, and then found some wisdom by discussing his plight with a young man named Elihu. Consider this: is God big enough to superintend your suffering?

Trying to understand the ways of God is like swimming across the Atlantic Ocean...too much water, and not enough time. Runners in life's race know that God cannot be contained in our finite comprehension. Job learned this through a difficult test of faith, because suffering teaches lessons that leisure can never teach. For an enlarged view of God, stay with us.

Tough questions must be faced. Questions like "where was God in the Holocaust?" And, "Why is the economy unraveling?" Runners in life's race need to know that these kinds of questions can be faced, and have been faced, yet, there are mysteries we cannot fathom and may never fathom. Every generation needs to learn some key lessons anew, and today, it's our turn.

An Olympic gold medal winner rightly enjoys his fame and achievement...for a time. But one day, he'll face another goal. And that's answering the ultimate question: "When I die, what happens?" As we'll see today a man named Job pursued this question, and found an answer: an answer that helps us handle the pains of this life as we await the life to come. Stay with us.
