The Healing Power Of The Light #2 of 4

August 28, 2009

Today: teaching from First John to shed light on the darkness that's within each of us. Please listen with us.

Under cover of darkness, criminals steal and destroy. We speak of "bringing their deeds to light" as they face justice. The light cuts the darkness like a knife. It reveals our hearts the way they really are. Today, let the light of God's word cut through your illusions and show you what God sees when He peers into your soul. Please listen with us.

Behind a façade of spiritual leadership, prominent Christians can become control freaks, doing much damage to the kingdom. Like King Saul of old, these people forget that God is ultimately in charge. Today: lessons from the Bible on the dangers of holding on too tightly to what we may see as ours. This may hit close to home, so please, please listen with us.

Control freaks are obsessed with themselves. It's sad, but true: by subjugating others, they seek to elevate their own importance. At some point such people become evil, as did King Saul of Israel. Today, we'll trace the life of a man so hard-hearted that he would not let go of his kingdom even when God told him to. To find out what happened, stay with us.

Some people are consumed with their own importance...so much so that they seek to control the lives of those around them to prove it. Such behavior is destructive, and can ruin the race of life for the oppressed as well as the oppressor. Today, we turn the light of scripture on the lives of so-called "control freaks." Know anyone like this? If so, please listen with us.

It's sad, but true: Christians are not immune to addictive behavior. Many are trapped in a web of deceit and bondage. Runners in life's race cannot win if they're caught up in addictions of any kind: habits that can destroy our futures. Today: we'll trace the roots of addiction, and point the way toward freedom: freedom to live the abundant life God intended. Please listen with us.

After the 9-11 attack on New York City, many Americans feared for their security, and hearts turned toward home. Every child craves the security of a father's embrace. What many Christians may not realize is the provision God has made for us as our Father: we can be sure of His care no matter what. Please listen with us.

When you come from a home without a good father, or from a home with no father, life can be tough... very tough. Sown in you may be seeds of future conflict. But those seeds need not germinate if we rightly understand the fatherhood of God. Today, you'll hear teaching that might be the key to opening a prison door in your life. Please listen with us.

There's one person who's the key to how you relate to life and to life's stressful situations. That person is your dad. We who run the race of life may not even realize the deep impact left by our fathers. Much of our inner pain can be traced to how we relate to our dads. Today: a revealing look at why your father is so important in your life. Please listen with us.
