Dr. Erwin W. Lutzer

Oprah, Miracles, and the New Earth Pt. 1 #2 of 4

It's blatant, it's in your face, it's out there for all to see. Open rebellion against the God of the Bible is now the style of our day. Be redefining God in its own image, our culture has taken two plus two and made five...it's turned truth upside down and created The Lie...a lie as old as the serpent's beguiling words in the Garden of Eden...a lie bought into by those who follow Oprah Winfrey.

Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. "Do you promise to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?"In court, truth is important. The Bible teaches that in the end times, truth will give way to a lie...not just any lie, but The Lie. What that lie is, and how it's found adherents among the powerful in our media, is our focus for the next eight Running to Win broadcasts.

In the race of life, what's your goal? Wealth? Power? Position? Or is it to hear "well done" from Jesus at the finish line? Many Americans treasure their freedom because it means they can do what they like. But freedom is only of value if we use that freedom to choose to be faithful to the cause of Christ. That's the counsel of an apostle in a Roman jail.

Is God on America's side? We all thought so when the twin towers were destroyed. Off we went to fight the war on terror. Years later, the war is ongoing. The economy is teetering on the brink. Tough times lie ahead for America, and many feel we're experiencing God's righteous judgment. Today, Erwin Lutzer points the way forward for those who want to see America, again, be blessed by God.

When God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses on Mount Sinai, one thing's for sure: He was not making the "Ten Suggestions." All too often we take the Bible's teachings as optional. We pick and choose which principles to obey and which to disregard. In the midst of this, God is not passively standing by. Our nation, and any nation that flaunts its disobedience will face his righteous judgment.

The separation of Church and State: a premise not found in the Constitution or in the Declaration of Independence. It's referred to in the writings of Thomas Jefferson and has been given a level of authority beyond that of the Bible. It's now a high wall, designed to keep God in a box while we as a nation do whatever we please. So, what's the inevitable outcome?

"Be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man sows, that will he reap." That goes for nations, as well. The United States has known blessing from the hand of God that few nations in history have been given. But that blessing may be in short supply in the days ahead, as we've turned our backs on the God who gives blessings. To learn more, stay with us.

An economy in free-fall...home values plummeting...jobs disappearing...are these normal cycles which will soon turn around? Or, are these evidence that America is fading from its past glories as God withdraws His protection? Many assume that God will always bless America as He has before. But can we accept the premise that judgment is coming, and may be at our door?

Soon we'll see the dawn of a new administration in Washington. Enormous challenges face our new President and his staff. An economy in collapse, a war on two fronts and an increasing sense that the future may be worse than the past. At this crucial hour, perhaps one question rises above all others: "Is God on America's Side?" For one man's perspective, stay with us.

When King David was on the run from his enemies, he learned to place his hope in God...in fact, to thirst for the living God. Few among us are as thirsty for God as David was. Too many things fill our lives: TV, the internet...the pressures of job and home. But when those things are taken away, our true hunger can be felt...a hunger that only God can fill.

Do you long for God? King David did. For most of us, having all we need means we have little reason to seek God. But David was a hunted man, chased among the rocks of the desert, a man who knew his only hope was in his God. His writings in the Psalms describe a man who learned to thirst for God like he thirsted for water. Today: a look at the ways God uses to draw us to that kind of thirst.
