In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. The Romans who crucified Jesus were very good at making sure a man was dead. And soldiers guarded the tomb to make sure He stayed dead. Nevertheless, nothing could withstand the power of God as He brought His Son back to life in brilliant glory.

Jesus endured three hours of agony on a Roman cross, giving up his life to atone for the sins of the world. In this message we remember the final moments in the life of Christ, and what that great transaction accomplished for us.

How would you react if you had stood watching Jesus die? The crowd jeered at Him, the Chief Priests mocked Him, and His mother simply wept. The central event in human history drew many kinds of responses, and it still does today.

The events of the last week of Jesus’ life on earth culminated in the sacrifice that bought our salvation. The Bible describes the drama and the horror of His execution on the cross. In this message we learn about the reactions of those who actually killed Jesus.

It’s called Skull Hill, a place of execution outside the walls of ancient Jerusalem. Only common criminals were crucified, and that’s what Jesus was considered. He was condemned by the Romans at the urging of Jewish leaders, but He went willingly to that cross for us.

Courts may deliver the sentence, but justice is not always done. For Jesus, mock trials were held to give legitimacy to the killing of an innocent man. But He knew there was a higher court, where true justice would prevail. For this reason, we need not seek vengeance on earth.

Before his crucifixion, Jesus endured mock trials to establish His supposed guilt. First, the Jewish leaders passed judgment. Then He was handed over to the Roman court system. The civil case against Jesus was another mockery of justice.
March 20, 2018
In a just world, the court system examines facts and determines guilt or innocence. But this is not a just world. After Jesus was arrested, He went before several so-called courts in rapid succession. He did it for one reason, that He might give His life for us.

The betrayal of Jesus is perhaps the greatest crime ever committed. Even the betrayer was filled with remorse for what he had done. In this message we look at the dark heart of Judas, a man who was close to Jesus, but so very far away.
March 16, 2018
The Jewish authorities plotted with their Roman overlords to have Jesus killed. All they needed was someone who could help them set the trap, and that someone was Judas.  He betrayed the Son of God into the hands of evil men.
