Paul was an able defender of the Gospel, even when standing before kings. His passion for truth even caused one king to doubt Paul’s sanity. Paul was on a mission, and in Caesarea, he ultimately appealed his case to the emperor.

Paul’s ministry in Jerusalem caused his enemies to have him arrested on false charges. He was sent to Caesarea, Rome’s government center in the region. There he languished in prison, waiting to answer the charges against him. But when God opened the door, Paul seized his opportunity to speak.

After reaching Greece, Paul became a fearless witness for Christ in a pagan culture. He explained the true God to the high-minded philosophers of that day. Paul is a role model for how we must confront the world with the Gospel.

A blinding light surrounded an enemy of Jesus, and this enemy surrendered without a struggle. Saul became Paul after his miraculous conversion, but reputations die hard. It took some time before this new disciple would be trusted.

You would never find a more unlikely convert to the Christian faith. Saul was intent on capturing and killing as many believers as possible. That all changed one day when Saul the Pharisee found himself blinded by the light.

As believers in Christ, “We’re in the army now.” Civilian life is over, as we are under the Lord’s command. It’s time to assess our gifts, find our places in God’s mission, wear His spiritual armor, and proclaim His life-giving message. Let’s step forward with bravery, compassionately seeking the redemption of souls.

As we live for Christ, the clock is advancing, and as Paul says, “Our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.” As this age draws to a close, the clock is ticking ever louder. Let this be a wake-up call for each of us.
