How to Adore God, Part 8 of 8 (How to Adore God)

February 28, 2018

There’s a heavy focus on praise in many of our churches, and praising God is always in order.  But the Bible tells us that God expects our praises to be accompanied by the sacrifices of sharing: sharing our time, talent and treasure. Both praising and sharing are crucial in the life of the believer.

We are living in a time when we desperately need to engage our culture with the only message that has any hope of transforming it. As Pastor Lutzer explores various approaches to the relationship between the state and the church, he reminds us that spiritual redemption, not political reformation, is at the heart of God’s agenda. Only the church, not a political party, can bear God’s message to a hurting world. Click below to receive this book for a gift of any amount or call Moody Church Media at 1.800.215.5001.

In our day, many churches have praise bands. The music is often high-energy, and some Christians feel that worship has morphed into entertainment. In light of this, how should we view our church services and the music in them?

The Bible tells us to love God with all our hearts, souls, and minds. In John 4 we meet a woman with a difficult past, a woman who finds a very positive future through Jesus. It’s all wrapped up in becoming a worshipper.

When we hear the words of Jesus on our motivations, we realize that we must let in the light to scatter the darkness from our lives. Our hearts and our actions will be changed forever as we receive Jesus’ words in Matthew 6.

Surgery is no fun, but it can be necessary and crucial. Spiritual surgery is the same: it isn’t enjoyable, but it is rewarding. We must evaluate our inner motivations, in order that our attitudes might be improved as we serve the Lord.

Good deeds can be seen, but motivations can’t. Why we behave the way we do is a key part of Christ’s teaching in Matthew 6. Are we laboring for the praise of men? Our Lord wants our works to done with Him in mind.
