Come and See His Temptation, Part 3 of 3 (Come and See Jesus)

July 16, 2014

Some of us want comfort and happiness more than we want the will of God. By denying Himself for 40 days in the wilderness, Jesus showed us that there is a higher purpose in life than feeling good and getting what we want.

When You’ve Been Wronged
Conflict in relationships is inevitable, but healing and reconciliation often is not. Time and again we've tried every option and failed, and all we are left with is a load of guilt and pain. Pastor Erwin Lutzer shows how the blessing the Lord gives to those who suffer unjustly is worth the pain involved. He also illustrates the need to leave our broken relationships in the hands of God and move forward in our lives toward freedom. God’s approval of Jesus was clear when a voice thundered from heaven, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.” This took place when Jesus was baptized in the river Jordan.

When you give to your church, do you wish you could attach strings to your dollars, and control where they go? Letting God supervise the use of the money we give creates a strong base for the many outreaches that our churches accomplish.

Some people dislike the time for offerings in a church service. They may give grudgingly, so as not to appear cheap in the eyes of others. Why do you contribute? The Bible tells us that God loves a cheerful giver. What kind of giver are you?

Planting a few seeds will result in a small harvest. Planting generously will result in a much greater harvest. The law of sowing and reaping not only applies to farming, but also to investing in God’s work.

How we handle money says a lot about who we are. The economy may be down, but God is still faithful. He will honor our choice to put resources where “moth and rust cannot corrupt.”

In Luke 16, Jesus teaches us the importance of investing for eternity. We need to use worldly wealth in a way that brings eternal dividends.
