Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. To those who became His disciples, the call of Jesus was clear and unambiguous. Their response was to immediately leave their nets behind. Are we as quick to heed the call of Christ? If not, this message will be an important challenge for each of us.

Some of us want comfort and happiness more than we want the will of God. By denying Himself for forty days in the wilderness, Jesus showed us that there is a higher purpose in life than feeling good and getting what we want.

Jesus had not eaten for forty days when Satan said, “make these stones into bread.” In this message we learn an important truth about temptations: they often ask us to fulfill legitimate desires in a way God does not intend.
