It is still a peaceful setting, as pilgrims meditate on the great transaction that took place in this ancient garden. Gethsemane lies on the Mount of Olives facing the Old City of Jerusalem. Here, Jesus spent a night in agonized prayer before being nailed to a cross outside the city wall. His task was to drink the cup of suffering for you and for me. What does this mean?

For some reason, many Christians believe their walk of faith should take them toward happiness, fulfillment, and prosperity. But the real legacy we inherit from our Master includes suffering. Every day a thousand voices call out, saying "listen to me." TV, radio, internet media: they all want our ear. But only one voice is really important. When Jesus was gloriously transfigured on the mountaintop, God spoke from within a cloud, saying "This is my beloved Son...listen to Him." Today you will hear the reason why you and I must do that.

Small group meetings are very meaningful. But a long time ago there was one small group meeting that has no equal. Atop a high mountain, a glorified Jesus appeared along with Moses and Elijah in the presence of Peter, James and John. Now that's a memorable meeting. In this message we will discuss the significance of those who gathered on that momentous day.

It was on a high place, perhaps Israel's Mount Tabor. Jesus gave three disciples a blinding vision of the future. Here, Moses and Elijah appeared with Christ, symbolizing Jesus as the fulfillment of both the law and the prophets. God's voice thundered from a cloud, and the experience was so powerful that, years later, Peter wrote of it as being "on the Holy Mountain."

When you've set out to attack someone verbally, and then find yourself out-reasoned, all you may have left is pure rage. That was the case when the Pharisees accused Jesus of casting out demons using Satan's power. Jesus replied, "A house divided against itself cannot stand." That left them speechless, and plotting to destroy Him. Today we learn of the turning tide of opinions against Jesus.

In Old Testament times, people connected sickness with personal sin. We now know this connection is not always accurate. But Jesus used that common perception in healing a paralyzed man, beginning by forgiving his sins, and thus infuriating the nearby Jewish scribes. Today we will look at a great miracle, and the testimony it bears about the Son of God.

There are times when you really need friends, especially at crisis points when we're powerless to solve our own problems. Four men wanted to help a sick man get well. Their determination to get their friend to Jesus was noted by the Savior Himself, even though they broke through a man's roof to get the job done. When we can't help ourselves, God provides others who can bear our burdens.
