In general, kings do not perform the role of servants. They have a retinue of people whose sole job it is to serve the king. Jesus will return one day as King of Kings. However, in His first coming He was a servant to the will of God, giving His life to save His people from their sins. Today: we begin a look into three chapters of Isaiah, chapters revealing what kind of servant Jesus was.

What’s the story and significance of the Reformation? Many evangelicals think we have no need to rehash the issues that divided the church in the sixteenth century. In prose that captivates as it informs, Erwin W. Lutzer captures the people, places, and big ideas that fueled the Reformation. He explains its lasting influence on the church and Western civilization. God used imperfect people to carry the Gospel onward. And, perhaps most importantly, he shows why the actions of passionate believers five hundred years ago still matter today.
