Running To Win

Dr. Erwin W. Lutzer

A Cry Of Submission

April 6, 2023

We will all die, whether it will be quite soon or someday in the future. With a loud voice, Jesus breathed his last by giving His spirit into His Father’s hands. In this message, we discover crucial lessons from Jesus’ willing sacrifice. While Jesus certainly taught us how to live, He also taught us how to die.

When You’ve Been Wronged
Conflict in relationships is inevitable, but healing and reconciliation often is not. Time and again we've tried every option and failed, and all we are left with is a load of guilt and pain. Pastor Erwin Lutzer shows how the blessing the Lord gives to those who suffer unjustly is worth the pain involved. He also illustrates the need to leave our broken relationships in the hands of God and move forward in our lives toward freedom. If anyone tries to earn their way into heaven, they don’t realize how much it costs. The penalty for sin must be paid before anyone can enter God’s holy presence. In this message, we discover three lessons from Jesus’ declaration, “It is finished.” Will we die with the assurance of salvation in Christ?
April 5, 2023
At our last breath, will we have finished everything God had wanted us to do? When Jesus cried, “It is finished,” He was declaring the debt of sin “paid in full.” In this message, we consider all that Christ accomplished for us. Jesus’ last words were not of despair but of victory.

People turn to sin because we feel deep down that God isn’t meeting our needs. Yet the one who said “I thirst” from the cross is the one who says “if any man thirst, let Him come to Me.” In this message, we’re refreshed by three lessons from Christ’s suffering. Why did Jesus thirst on our behalf?

Many of us know what it means to be violated and humiliated. When Jesus cried out, “I thirst,” He revealed His solidarity with our deepest human feelings. In this message from John 19, we absorb three characteristics of Jesus’ suffering. Are we ready to change our perspective on suffering?

We all deserve hell—eternal separation from God. In an unthinkable mystery, God turned His back on His only Son so we might have access to Him. In this message, we ponder three unforgettable lessons at the foot of the cross. The One who bore our sin is our only hope of reconciliation with God.

How trivially we regard sin. On the cross, Jesus bore the guilt of every sin ever committed in the history of humanity—even though He Himself was without sin. In this message, we contemplate three wonders of this fourth cry from the cross. Why did the Father abandon Jesus?

With His life, Jesus taught us how to live. In His death, He taught us how to sacrifice for others. In this message, we realize how the cross is a place for us to take responsibility, receive rebuke, and ultimately accept redemption. Will we continue in our selfish ways or follow in the way of Jesus?

While Jesus was hanging on the cross, He was thinking about others. As life slipped from His body, Jesus gave the world an example in caring for those He loved. In this message, we meet the three people who are involved in this third cry from the cross. The closer we get to the cross, the better we should see ourselves.

Everyone wants to be remembered. Even if we are not remembered by man, how much better it is to be remembered by God. In this message, we compare the two thieves crucified with Jesus. These two represent the division across humanity: those who look to Christ for salvation, and those who don’t.
March 24, 2023
For the thief on the cross next to Jesus, death was only minutes away. If anyone ever needed assurance of salvation, it was him. In this message from Luke 23, we glimpse Jesus’ incredible words of assurance. We all must hang onto Christ’s promise from this life to the next.
