A Cry Of Compassion Part 2

March 28, 2023

With His life, Jesus taught us how to live. In His death, He taught us how to sacrifice for others. In this message, we realize how the cross is a place for us to take responsibility, receive rebuke, and ultimately accept redemption. Will we continue in our selfish ways or follow in the way of Jesus?

When You’ve Been Wronged
Conflict in relationships is inevitable, but healing and reconciliation often is not. Time and again we've tried every option and failed, and all we are left with is a load of guilt and pain. Pastor Erwin Lutzer shows how the blessing the Lord gives to those who suffer unjustly is worth the pain involved. He also illustrates the need to leave our broken relationships in the hands of God and move forward in our lives toward freedom. While Jesus was hanging on the cross, He was thinking about others. As life slipped from His body, Jesus gave the world an example in caring for those He loved. In this message, we meet the three people who are involved in this third cry from the cross. The closer we get to the cross, the better we should see ourselves.

Everyone wants to be remembered. Even if we are not remembered by man, how much better it is to be remembered by God. In this message, we compare the two thieves crucified with Jesus. These two represent the division across humanity: those who look to Christ for salvation, and those who don’t.

For the thief on the cross next to Jesus, death was only minutes away. If anyone ever needed assurance of salvation, it was him. In this message from Luke 23, we glimpse Jesus’ incredible words of assurance. We all must hang onto Christ’s promise from this life to the next.

At His crucifixion, Jesus cried out, “Father, forgive them!” God answered that specific prayer both at the cross and at Pentecost. In this message, we apply three dynamics of Christ’s forgiveness to our own relationships. If Christ’s own executioners can be forgiven, how much more do we extend forgiveness to those who’ve wounded us?

One of Jesus’ last prayers is for His heavenly Father to pardon His enemies. Beaten to the point of being unrecognizable, He exhibits the heart of God’s forgiveness in His most tormented hour. In this message, we meditate on the context and the content of Jesus’ prayer. Can any of us comprehend this kind of compassion?

In God’s plan, all His glorious attributes converged at the dreadful hill called Calvary. The Suffering Servant, of Isaiah 53, was wounded and rejected for our healing. In this message, we study five facts about Jesus our Messiah’s wounds. How do we access the healing found only through His wounds?

Jesus suffered immense physical and spiritual suffering at the cross. We will never plumb the depths of God’s love shown on that dark day. In this message, we hear the first of seven cries Jesus uttered before giving up His spirit. Because of the cross, Christianity is the only religion that has a God with wounds.

We’re all prone to addictive sin habits. Media and technology have only made us more vulnerable. In this message from Matthew 5, Jesus Himself speaks to our impurities and lust. What do we say to loved ones who are addicted to media consumption or explicit material?

The obsessive, compulsive behavior of addiction is destructive. Whether the addiction is pornographic, or any other type, the traits are similar. In this message, Pastor Lutzer gives us four signs to look for in an addict. At the center of it all is what Jesus has done for us and how only He can truly change a person.

The Bible bluntly says, “Touch no unclean thing.” In a media-saturated age, Christians must take bold steps to honor God. In this message, we learn three practical guards for our hearts: relationships, rules, and redemption. It matters where we scroll, swipe, type, or click.
