In this life, we will never understand the sufferings of Christ on Calvary, nor His pain when the Father forsook Him there. We hear Him say, "My God, my God, why have You forsaken Me?" but we can't understand what it was like for the Son to lose fellowship with the Father. There are many mysteries in the Bible: mysteries we can never fully understand. One of them was uttered by Jesus on the cross; "My God, my God, why have You forsaken Me?" The pain Christ bore on the cross for you and me was immense. But there was someone else at that cross whose heart was breaking. While on His cross, Jesus granted forgiveness to a dying thief on a nearby cross...a man who believed Jesus when He said "Today you will be with Me in Paradise."
