When You’ve Been Wronged
Conflict in relationships is inevitable, but healing and reconciliation often is not. Time and again we've tried every option and failed, and all we are left with is a load of guilt and pain. Pastor Erwin Lutzer shows how the blessing the Lord gives to those who suffer unjustly is worth the pain involved. He also illustrates the need to leave our broken relationships in the hands of God and move forward in our lives toward freedom. Christians in America are rapidly becoming like Daniel and his friends in Babylon. The Christian life is out of sync with our pagan environment. How do we reconcile what we believe with what we must do in order to live in such a culture?

Once, Christians were a dominant force in American culture. That day is no more. How do we live as a minority in a now-pagan culture? The surprising answers come from Jeremiah 29, where God tells captive Israel how to live in a faraway land.

Jesus looked on Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives and wept over the destruction He knew the Romans would soon bring. Centuries earlier, the prophet Jeremiah wept when the city was destroyed. Do we weep for our nation, soon to feel judgment?

When the judgment of God falls, things we hold dear are often laid waste. The city of Jerusalem with its temple was ransacked and looted by invading armies whose actions were within the plan and will of God.

When Jeremiah proclaimed the coming judgment of God, his fellow Israelites paid him no heed. Life went on with no thought of a day of accounting. We in America must learn what they learned, because where Israel went, so will we.

God poured out His wrath on Israel through invading armies that looted Jerusalem and took the people into captivity. America may soon feel that same wrath.  We can learn important lessons from the fall of a nation long ago.

A lump of clay has no clue what its potter intends to make out of it. Jeremiah 18 tells us that God views Israel as clay on His wheel. Life can begin to make sense when we get a right view of ourselves and a right view of God.
November 14, 2014
Many people think they are masters of their own destiny. But God sees His people as clay on a potter’s wheel, and since He is the potter, He controls their destiny. Freedom comes from seeing ourselves as vessels God can make and remake as He chooses.
