Dr. Erwin W. Lutzer

He Owns Our Reputation # 1 of 2

June 26, 2008
We'd all save a lot of energy if who we seemed to be matched who we really were. In other words: no images to maintain. Many people worry about how they're perceived. They'll smile on the outside while crying on the inside. Their lives an act for the benefit of others. Good news: we can lose the game face, because in the final analysis, God is in charge of our reputations. To learn more, stay with us.

When You’ve Been Wronged
Conflict in relationships is inevitable, but healing and reconciliation often is not. Time and again we've tried every option and failed, and all we are left with is a load of guilt and pain. Pastor Erwin Lutzer shows how the blessing the Lord gives to those who suffer unjustly is worth the pain involved. He also illustrates the need to leave our broken relationships in the hands of God and move forward in our lives toward freedom. The love of money is the root of all evil...yet in this world we cannot function without money. So, what's a Christian to do? If we recognize God's laws of stewardship, we can be freed from the downside of having money. When we're no longer owners, but rather, caretakers of financial resources, the whole picture changes. And this picture can be clearly seen in Acts chapter 4.

Win a hundred million dollars in a lottery and you become an instant media star. These days, people dream of the big bucks. And they'll lie, cheat, and steal to get those bucks. Yet once they have them, those dollars often corrupt people from the inside out. All that glitters is not gold. How can a Christian properly handle his cash, yet stay free of its addictive allure? Stay with us...there's no charge.

The rights of believers to exercise their religion in America are being slowly destroyed. Clearly, persecution is coming. What do we do when faced with tough choices, choices to obey God or man? How often we've wished we could retract words we've spoken in haste or in anger, words that have wounded those around us. While some argue about speaking in tongues, there's one gift of tongues all believers should have....the gift of a tongue controlled by the Holy Spirit, a tongue that always edifies and never tears down. Today, more details on the gift of tongues, plus guidance on keeping our own tongues in check.

It's said that "the pen is mightier than the sword." Yes, words are powerful, and when spoken, they can cut like swords. If we could rewind the tapes of our lives and hear all we've said, we'd be shocked. We'd all wish we could press the "erase" button. Yes, our tongues can be lethal weapons. Only under God's control can they bring blessing rather than cursing.

As a runner heads into the last turn, sometimes his energy begins to run out. What he needs then is a source of power. Like runners getting a second wind, we're not left to carry out the Great Commission without resources. Jesus promised His disciples power, and when He has first place in our lives, that power begins to flow. How do we receive it? Stay with us on today's broadcast you'll find out.

The message is clear. Our culture and the media tell us to "look out for number one." In a way, they're right. Running the race of life involves understanding who's in charge. Once we realize that "number one" is not us, the race gets a lot easier. Today, let's take the first step in living life with God in firm control, as was the case in the early church. Open your Bible to the book of Acts.

People enjoy the internet's vast resources, and like the instant news access. But a danger lies behind the screen. It's all too easy to get lost in the web's infinite links, and forget that our kids are growing up in a culture that wants to eat them for lunch. Today, a final challenge: a challenge for parents to get involved in the lives of those precious children, and thereby reclaim their families.

Like paper boats on a raging sea, many Christians feel swept along by the rising tide of filth in a decaying culture. As sexual predators seek to devour your kids, you need resources to defend those kids and their futures. Today, more of Pastor Erwin's commandments for parents in an age of immorality. Get those pens and pencils ready: this is serious stuff.
