The Legal and Vital Work of Salvation Part 28: Why the Apostles Never Just Told Their Story
Did the apostles preach from personal experience, or from something else entirely? Dr. Abel Damina shows that every sermon recorded in Acts — Peter's at Pentecost, Philip's to the Ethiopian, Paul's at Antioch — quoted directly from Old Testament prophecy: "nobody just preached... the apostles were all quoting from the scriptures." He even points out that Peter told the Jewish crowd to "repent" while telling Gentiles simply to "believe," since only the Jews needed to change their minds about who Jesus was. This episode of Reintroducing Jesus, Beyond Religion traces how the gospel was actually delivered in the book of Acts — and what that means for how it should be preached today.
