The Church of God in Service Part 41
Dr. Abel Damina: Let’s agree together this morning that sick bodies are healed by the teaching of God’s word. Sick bodies are healed. Sick bodies are healed.
Thank you, Lord Jesus. Thank you, Lord Jesus. Lift up your hands and begin to give Him thanks this morning. Begin to give Him praise. Give thanks unto the Father who has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.
In the name of Jesus. Father, we rejoice that we have another opportunity to come before your holy, precious, written word. Thank you that the Holy Spirit lives on our inside. So revelation knowledge is gifted us this morning. I declare that the eyes of each one’s understanding be flooded with light. Whatever is not planted by God is rooted out. Burdens and yokes are destroyed.
And we declare that this morning your people are built up, equipped, and edified. Jesus is glorified. So we rejoice that by the end of this service, we will all be the better for it. In Jesus’ name we pray and every believer says a powerful amen.
Glory! Lift your right hands to heaven. Let’s release our faith together as we say these words. I am born of God. I am born of the world. The word of God is my nature. I do not struggle to do the word. I do the word naturally. Therefore, today, I will understand the word of His grace. I will be built up. By the end of this service, I will never be the same. Never ever be the same again. In Jesus’ name. And every believer says a powerful amen.
Glory! Are we excited to study God’s word together this morning? Can we celebrate our fellowship with a shout, with a clap? Let’s celebrate. That doesn’t look like celebration this morning. Glory! Amen. Help me walk around three, four, five people. Shake somebody, tell somebody, "You will be blessed because I came." Greet somebody real good this morning. Glory, glory, glory. Greet somebody real good. You will be blessed because I came this morning. Oh, glory to the Lamb. I said glory to Jesus. Hallelujah.
All right. Grab your pen, your notebook, your Bible. You can be seated with your sweet, smart self this morning. All right. Coordinators' training is ongoing. We’re receiving people to train for coordinators. Remember that as a church, our vision and mission is to raise men. Our vision and mission is to equip men to walk in the light of the truth of the gospel. Therefore, because of that, we are launching lighthouses.
Now, our ministry, our church branches, are called campuses. And the reason we call our ministry churches "campuses" is because we don’t want you to come to church with the mindset of just normal church. We want you to come to church ready to learn like a student, ready to be equipped, ready to be trained, so you can grow in the riches of God’s grace.
So we are launching campuses all over the world. And if you’ve been following our ministry for some time and in your own area there is no campus, if you want to help us start a campus, we can train you as a coordinator, work with you, and you can be the reason why the lighthouse or the gospel of Christ will reach that community where you are. So if you want to be trained to be part of our team to raise men for Jesus, just send us a mail with your name and your details to PCIGlobaltraining@gmail.com.
Are we excited this morning? Are we ready for God’s word? Glory to God. I said glory to God. Amen. All right, let’s go for it. Matthew 28 verse number 18. Matthew chapter 28, verse number 18.
Guest (Female): And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth."
Dr. Abel Damina: Next verse.
Guest (Female): "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."
Dr. Abel Damina: Next verse.
Guest (Female): "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
Dr. Abel Damina: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. We’re looking at spiritual warfare, spiritual warfare and the work of ministry.
So what has Jesus taught that we are to teach people to observe? Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded. And we began to look at it. Matthew the 10th chapter, the 8th verse. Matthew chapter 10, verse number 8.
Guest (Female): "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give."
Dr. Abel Damina: That is what He commanded. He gave them instructions to cast out demons, to heal the sick. And He says, "Freely you have received, freely give." So if Jesus gave us the instructions to cast out demons, then we need to know what demons are. We need to know who Satan is. We need to understand the modus operandi of Satan and his entire kingdom. It’s called the kingdom of darkness.
Last Sunday we did some detailed study and we saw that demons were angels who fell. Now an angel, Satan himself, is an angel. Please don’t miss that. Satan himself is an angel. But he is no longer an angel of light. He used to be an angel of light, but he’s no longer an angel of light. Now he’s an angel of darkness.
Therefore, he now operates his own hierarchy. You know, these angels were angels of God, the fallen angels. But in this instance, they are now angels of Satan. So there is Satan, an angel who disobeyed God and fell, and there are also fallen angels who are demons in the hierarchy of Satan, who is the chief demon or chief devil in charge of this modus operandi.
In the book of Second Corinthians, the Bible tells us in chapter 11, verse 13 and 14.
Guest (Female): "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light."
Dr. Abel Damina: Because he’s an angel, he is transformed into an angel of light. He’s an angel of darkness, but he can put up a front. He can put up a deceptive front and act like an angel of light. So Satan is an angel of darkness. Demons are angels who fell in disobedience to God, who work together with Satan in that hierarchy of darkness. Look at Matthew the 25th chapter, the 41st verse.
Guest (Female): "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels."
Dr. Abel Damina: Prepared for the devil and his angels. So demons are angels. Prepared for the devil and his angels. So they are angels, but not angels of God. They are angels of darkness. Because the angels of God are to minister for the saints. Look at Hebrews the first chapter, the sixth verse.
Guest (Female): "And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him."
Dr. Abel Damina: So let all the angels of God worship Jesus. Jesus is the firstbegotten, the prototokos, the prototype. So all angels are commanded to worship Jesus. Give me verse 7 of that same chapter.
Guest (Female): "And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire."
Dr. Abel Damina: So all angels are spirits. Who maketh his angels spirits and his ministers flames of fire. So who are these angels or what is the job of these angels? Hebrews chapter 1, verse 14.
Guest (Female): "Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?"
Dr. Abel Damina: They are ministering spirits or they are serving spirits. The word "ministering" means serving. They are serving spirits. Angels are serving spirits sent forth to serve them who shall be heirs of salvation. So angels worship Jesus and they serve man. Please don’t miss that. Angels worship Jesus and they serve man.
These angels were angels who left their first estate. Jude chapter 1, verse 6.
Guest (Female): "And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day."
Dr. Abel Damina: These are angels who left their first estate where God had for them, where God planned for them. They left in disobedience. Now they are judged and they are reserved under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. That is the way they were made. They were made as angels but now they are angels of darkness. So these are angels that sinned. Look at Second Peter chapter 2, verse 4.
Guest (Female): "For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment."
Dr. Abel Damina: So these angels are angels that sinned. Satan and his entire kingdom is a rebellious kingdom. Satan sinned and all the demons that fell with him, all of them sinned. So these angels are angels who sinned. And God spared them not, but cast them down to hell.
The word "hell" there is not hellfire. The word "hell" there is the word *Tartarus* in the Greek. *Tartarus* means they are separated from the life of God. And the absence of God’s life is darkness. They are separated from God’s light.
Therefore, it is a separation, a state of darkness. Those angels are separated. They are in a state of darkness. Then you discover that Satan is called the prince of this world. Satan is called the prince of this world. And the prince of this world has been judged already. The word "prince" there is the word "ruler" in the Greek.
Satan is the ruler of this world. The word "world" there is not this earth. The word "world" there is a system of thinking that contradicts the word of God. He is the god or the ruler of a system of thinking, a mindset. The word "aeons" in the Greek. Satan is the prince, the ruler of the thinking system that contradicts the word of God. He is the prince of this world. In fact, look at it, John 16:11.
Guest (Female): "Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged."
Dr. Abel Damina: The prince of this world, the ruler of this world, which is Satan. The book of Corinthians calls him the god of this world or the god of this aeons, or the god of a thinking system that contradicts the word of God, a thinking system that makes you doubt the word of God.
So that judgment is mentioned in Peter. And he says they are reserved unto judgment. That means they are bound in the sense that they have lost that estate. They are no more the way God created them and they are no more functioning in the parameters which God created them to function in. Therefore, they cannot carry out the authority of the Son of God.
These fallen angels and Satan cannot carry out the authority of the Son of God or the power of God anymore. So they are operating a perverted system, a twisted system. They are operating a perverted system or a twisted, rebellious system. Therefore, they are bound. They are judged to be delivered to everlasting darkness. Jesus said that Satan and his angels will be cast into judgment.
Then we also took time to look at principalities and powers. Look at Ephesians chapter 6, verse 10 to 12.
Guest (Female): "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Dr. Abel Damina: We wrestle not against flesh and blood. The word "flesh and blood" is the Greek word *sarx*. It means we are not in a fight against human beings. We don’t have a wrestle against human beings, flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers. And we took time to explain what the wrestle means.
The word "wrestle" there is not WWF. The word "wrestle" there means to ward off. To ward off distraction, to ward off deceit, to ward off persecution. That’s the word "wrestle." So we are not in a fight with Satan. We are not in a fight with Satan. Please listen. We are not in a fight with Satan. Satan is a defeated foe. Jesus has defeated Satan for us. Jesus has rendered Satan totally defeated. Hebrews chapter 2, verse 14 and 15.
Guest (Female): "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage."
Dr. Abel Damina: He destroyed him that had. Put up verse 14. Through death, he destroyed him that had the power of death. Please don’t miss that. He destroyed him that had, which means he doesn’t have that power anymore. Jesus destroyed him that had. Satan is the one that was behind death from Genesis till Jesus destroyed him. So Satan doesn’t have the power of death anymore.
Destroyed him that had the power of death, that is the devil. The word "destroyed" there is the word "disarm." Destroy doesn’t mean he destroyed him like English destruction. No, he disarmed him. He took away the armor that Satan was using to deal with man. And that armor, Jesus took it away from Satan and delivered them who all through their lifetime were subject to bondage through the fear of death.
So we wrestle against principalities. The word "wrestle" means to ward off. We ward off principalities, we ward off powers, we ward off the rulers of the darkness. Again, don’t forget, they only rule in darkness. Darkness means ignorance. They only rule where there is ignorance, where there is no knowledge, where there is no light.
Knowledge is light. The word of God brings light. The entrance of His word giveth light, and the light shines in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not. So the entrance, as you're hearing God's word right now, light is coming into your mind that renders the devil ineffective in your environment. The entrance of God's word.
So we wrestle against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness. They only rule where there is darkness. Satan cannot rule where there is light. He rules in the darkness of this world. Look at Second Corinthians chapter 10, verse 4 and 5.
Guest (Female): "(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;"
Dr. Abel Damina: We began to examine three different words. Number one, the word "possession," demonic possession. And we said a child of God cannot be possessed. To be possessed of demons means Satan took over the spirit, the soul, and the body of a man. And we took time to see from scripture people who were possessed and what it was like: the madman of Gadara who was bound with chains and he was breaking chains and he took stones and cut his body and was tormenting himself. That’s a case of demonic possession.
Then we also looked at demonic oppression. Oppression of the devil. To be oppressed is from outside and happens in the mind and in the body. Sickness is an oppression. Acts 10:38, how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and power, who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed. So sickness is an oppression of the devil, for God was with him. "Oppressed" means from outside. He oppresses you from outside, not from inside.
So we began to examine, can the believer be bound in his mind? Can a man who has believed the gospel, a man who has received Jesus in his heart, a man that has the Holy Spirit inside him, can he be held bound in his mind?
We saw that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. Strongholds are imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. Now, take note of the word "pulling down strongholds." What are strongholds? Strongholds are unreachable areas in the lives of some believers. Unreachable areas in the lives of some believers.
These are areas of their lives where they have refused to be persuaded by the word of God. Areas of a believer's mind where he has refused to be persuaded with the word of God. So every time the word of God is being heard about that particular area, there is no persuasion. He is not persuaded because of that stronghold.
An area where a believer refuses to be persuaded by the word of God. So every time we’re teaching and we go to that area, he is not persuaded. There are some people, no matter what we teach, they believe in generational curses. Even when we have shown them clearly in the Bible that there’s nothing like generational curse for the believer.
We took time to deal with that last Sunday in the second service, but there are some people that still believe that, "I know, I know, but let’s be realistic. Let’s be realistic." That man talking like that is a victim of a stronghold. He is held captive in his mind. There is a thought pattern that has imprisoned him. And even when some prisoners are released from prison, they love the prison. There are people that don't like to leave the prison environment because they’re not sure of what they will face outside. So they are happy to be in prison.
Even when you open the door and say, "Go out," they say, "I’m not going out. I like this place." Because they’ve been there for too long. So you’re telling them, "No, there is generational curses. After all, I know one family where the first daughter didn't marry, the second daughter didn't marry, the third—how do you explain that? I know another family where all the boys are useless, nobody has a job. How can you say there are no generational curses?"
We have shown them in the Bible. God says, "As long as I live, no longer shall you have occasion to use this proverb in Israel, that the fathers ate sour grapes and the children's teeth are set on edge." It shall no longer happen again. God said such a thing will no more exist. In Ezekiel 18 from verse 1 to 4, He said, "But the soul that sinneth, it shall die. The sin of the father shall not be required from the son and the sin of the son shall not be required from the father." Everybody will take responsibility for his life.
It’s very clear. But there are some believers who have strongholds. They have refused for that area of their life to be persuaded by the word of God. So that area becomes a dark spot in their life that they have blocked light from entering. And so Satan rules in darkness. Because they have created a dark domain in their life, Satan is sitting there as the chief of their lives. He’s sitting there, and nothing good comes from Satan. It will be captivity, it will be death, it will be destruction, it will be depravity, it will be torment and affliction. And Satan sits there and he likes darkness because he’s the prince of darkness.
In your mind, when you allow darkness to resist the word of God and you disallow the light of God’s word to enter, in that area you are held bound. You’re not possessed, but you’re held bound. And by virtue of that, you can be oppressed and you can be depressed.
I have respect for medical science, but there are things that senior medical science. For example, you cannot inject a demon out of a person. Demons don’t know injection and they don’t respond to injection. So if that sickness is demonic, there is no amount of medication—if you like, go to Donald Trump's hospital in the White House, that is even where you will die. Because demons have no respect for injection.
The weapons are not carnal. So when it has seniored medical science, they will say, "This matter has no medical cure." They will say, "This matter is beyond medical cure." Know that Satan is responsible. Then they will say, "The only way we can describe it is personality disorder." Because a demon has tampered with the mindset. And that demon is making the mind fluctuate. Good, bad, happy, sad, joy, depression. A demon is tampering with that mindset. There's an oppression, obvious oppression of the devil.
And what that person needs is to allow the word of God, which is light, to permeate his thought pattern and embrace God’s thinking pattern. And then the yoke is broken and that person is liberated, and what could not be cured suddenly is supernaturally cured. Am I teaching good? Stay with me.
For instance, a believer can have doubt in his mind. And if he receives healing from God’s word but is not persuaded, later the sickness will come again. And because he has not been well informed, he is deformed. So when that sickness begins to knock the door, because he’s not equipped, he opens the door. So what left comes back and it will look like it never left.
It’s because of doubt. And doubt can graduate to unbelief. Unbelief now can become a stronghold in the believer's mind. Such that every time he hears the word of God about divine healing, he is not persuaded. So a stronghold has been formed in that area of his life. He can’t believe for divine healing anymore because there is doubt that has become unbelief that has become a stronghold in his mind.
Doubt is a weakness of faith which is traced to insufficient information. Where there is doubt, there is insufficient information. And where there is insufficient information, there is a weakness of faith. It means to have double opinion.
Unbelief can be said to be a lack of faith. It is a state where one is not persuaded by the word of God. So unbelief builds a stronghold. Unbelief builds a stronghold in the life of a believer. And this stronghold is built over time. That’s why the believer's warfare now is to pull down these strongholds. Pulling down strongholds.
How do you pull down strongholds? By casting down imaginations. Strongholds are image formations in the mind. Strongholds are mental pictures that are mental cages that have caged a man from the liberty that is in Christ Jesus. Strongholds, they are not in the sky, they are in the mind.
The believer's warfare is to pull them down, and every high thing that exalts itself above the knowledge of God. God says no longer shall there be generational curses. Then you now come with a knowledge that exalts itself above what God has said. That knowledge is a stronghold. That knowledge that contradicts the word of God is a stronghold.
Every knowledge that contradicts the word of God, these are contrary opinions to the word of God. These are opinions that do not corroborate God’s word, but rather oppose God’s position. It’s not a physical war. It’s not a fight against flesh and blood, but against thought patterns, imaginations, belief systems of men. Belief systems.
In the next service, I’m going to be dealing with belief systems very squarely, like we started last Sunday in the second service. For this believer, he will have to renew his mind and change his thought pattern by allowing the word of God which is like a hammer, by allowing the word of God that is sharper than any two-edged sword, by allowing the word of God that is like fire, by allowing the word of God that is light to enter, break down, dissolve, uproot, destroy a thought pattern that keeps a believer in a place of captivity by his cooperation in the admission of ignorance.
Stay with me. Faith, therefore, is the answer to doubt, which is one of the fiery darts of the wicked. One of the fiery darts of the enemy. When a believer receives the word of God and there comes contrary information to the word of God that he has received, then there is war. When you receive the word of God and an opposing opinion to that word begins to come at you, that is a war.
The word of God says by his stripes you are healed. The word of God says and Jesus healed them all. The word of God says he sent his word, his word healed them, his word delivered them from all their destruction. And then you begin to receive contrary information that says that condition you have can never be cured. Now there’s war because there’s conflicting information against the information you have received. So you have two sets of information. Your mind is fighting with these two different informations that are contrary one to another.
The warfare in Second Corinthians 10:3-5 where we read, which is spiritual, is now to take a stand on the word of God. You take a stand. You agree with God. You corroborate God’s word. You say, "God said it, I believe it, I stick to the word of God and I resist that other information. I refuse to accommodate it." You take stands with God’s word. You do not allow a contrary opinion to set in either a doubt or unbelief, so that there is no stronghold in your mind.
Therefore, the believer cannot afford to be ignorant of God’s word. Because when you’re not aware of who you are and what you have, you cannot act on the realities that are yours in Christ. You cannot act on the realities that are yours in Christ.
So we need to understand how the mind of man affects his conversation and lifestyle. How a man’s mind affects his conversation and lifestyle. Remember we said that the mind of a man refers to his reasoning. A man’s mind refers to his reasoning, his intellect and understanding. That’s the mind. Reasoning, intellect and understanding.
Don’t forget we also said the mind and the spirit are together. You cannot separate them. You can only distinguish them. That’s why it is called the spirit of your mind because the mind and the spirit are together. They cannot be separated but they can be distinguished. And it is only the word of God that can discern the soul from the spirit. You can’t separate them.
So the mind, therefore, is the doorway to the spirit. Don’t miss that. The mind of a man is the doorway to his spirit. Since the mind is the center of reasoning and intellect, when information comes, it goes to the mind. When the mind receives that information from the mind, it affects his spirit.
That’s why when we teach, you must hear and you must understand for it now to be processed by meditation as nutrients for your spirit man. If you cannot understand what I teach, it cannot edify you. If you cannot understand what I’m saying, it cannot build you up. That's why when we speak in tongues, you’re not edified. I am edified, but you are not, because your mind cannot process. You can’t process it because your mind doesn’t understand it. Except I interpret it in a language you understand, then your mind receives light and then your mind edifies you and your spirit man is built.
The mind is the doorway to the spirit because that’s the center of intellect, that’s the center of reasoning, and that is the center of understanding. Romans chapter 12, verse 1 and 2.
Guest (Female): "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
Dr. Abel Damina: And be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Transformation will come from the mind. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove.
Now, the word "renewing" is from the Greek word *anakainosis*. Which means to re-educate. Renew means to re-educate or to remold. It speaks of a renovation. To re-educate, to remold, or to renovate. In that same Romans 12, brother Paul instructed the believer not to be conformed to this world. Not to be conformed, which will mean for him not to fashion or conduct himself after the system of this world. Not to conform, but to be transformed by the renewing of his mind, the re-education, the remolding, or the renovation of his mind.
The mind of man functions with information. Therefore, a child of God will walk in God’s will by renewing his mind. He renews his mind with the reality of the word. What does the word say about me? He takes what the word says and puts it in his mind and uses what God’s word says to remold his thought pattern, to remold his thinking process.
Last Sunday we were having a coordinators' meeting with all our pastors around the world and we were talking about the Sunday service. One of them was sharing his own takeaways and he says, "You know, in Africa they told us that idol worship exists. And these idols, white people came and packed all our idols to Europe and kept them in the museum and the idols could not do anything."
A sister said, "In my village, they said that nobody can go into a particular river because that river is a goddess. That river is to be worshipped." While all the villagers stayed away from the river, some people came from the back, entered the river, and were fishing big-bean fishes and selling to the villagers, and they were buying and eating and the spirit in the river did not disturb them.
Because idols don’t exist. They only exist in the mind of the man who has been deceived. There are no gods. Where are those places they call "evil forest" before? Where are those places they call "evil forest" before? Even this place was called an evil forest. This place you’re sitting now. It was called an evil forest because before we came to this place, they said nothing worked here for 20 years.
And they said back in the days, this 98 Waniba where we have our church, nobody could do anything meaningful here. And they said people that used to live in this village, if a chief dies, they would dig this 98 Waniba and bury the chief and put six other people. So when we were digging this place to build, we found skulls. Skulls in groups. Some skulls you will see eight of them together in one group. And then that story now corroborated what we saw here. And they said nothing will work, but is it not working? Are you not sitting here and receiving light? The gods are dead.
The same way the gods are dead, charms don't work. Charms will only work in the heart of a man who believes in them. Am I teaching good here? There is only one God. These things don’t work. What do they use in making charms? It is the things that God created. Cowry shells, thread, needles. What do they use in building those idols? The things that God created. So the earth is the Lord's. Including the idols, they are the Lord's.
When you come to this knowledge, you live in this world as if you’re the only one here. Tell your neighbor, "Renew your mind." Now don't forget that the heart is the center of man’s consciousness because it contains the mind. The heart is the center of man’s consciousness because it contains the mind. Therefore, all of man’s activities will be predicated on the state of his mind. Look at Ephesians chapter 4, verse number 17.
Guest (Female): "This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,"
Dr. Abel Damina: They walk in the vanity of their minds. The word "walk" there is the word *peripateo* in the Greek. It means a manner of life. It’s a function of one’s mindset. That walk is a function of your manner of life, a function of your mindset.
And Paul in this text used the word "walk" twice: the believer's walk and the unbeliever's walk. And he said the walk of the unbeliever is as a result of his mindset. Walk not as other Gentiles walk in the vanity of their minds. So Gentiles conduct their lives in the vanity of their minds. Gentiles are those who have not believed the gospel. Look at that Ephesians chapter 4, verse 18 and 19.
Guest (Female): "Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness."
Dr. Abel Damina: Because of the blindness of their heart, they are ignorant. Look at verse 19. They have given themselves over unto all manner of lasciviousness. Brake failure. No more brake. Callousness, lasciviousness. And the man’s understanding is darkened because he is alienated from the life of God. He is without the life of God.
And that’s the same thing brother Paul was talking about in Ephesians chapter 2, verse 3, where he says their walk is as a result of their nature. "Wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. Among whom also we all had our conversation in time past"—we were there—"in time past, in the lust of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others."
So these people are without the life of God. Their walk is influenced by the god of this world or by the prince of the power of the *pneuma*. The word "air" is not air like wind. It is *pneuma*, which means spirit. So they walk under the influence of the spirit of this world. They are without the life of God.
But for the believer, Ephesians 2:10 says we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God had before ordained that we should walk in them. So the believer is the workmanship of God. He’s the handy work of God. That is, we are God’s own doing. Our conduct in this existence is already prescribed and perfectly done. Our conduct is already set in us. That’s why we’re made perfect in Christ.
So we can walk and conduct ourselves in line with the word of God. Ephesians chapter 4, verse 1 says, "I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that you walk worthy of the vocation wherewith you are called." The believer is to walk as a child of God and to walk as a new creature. Ephesians 4:20.
Guest (Female): "But ye have not so learned Christ;"
Dr. Abel Damina: But you have not so learned Christ. Now he’s making a contrast between the believer and unbeliever. The word "learned" will refer to the understanding. Look at verse 21. Ephesians 4:21.
Guest (Female): "If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:"
Dr. Abel Damina: This learning of Christ will be a product of teaching, as you have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus. So he now says be renewed in the spirit of your mind. Be renewed. Give me verse 23 and 24.
Guest (Female): "And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness."
Dr. Abel Damina: That you put on. You acknowledge. To put on is to acknowledge the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. You’re not going to be righteous. Salvation made you automatically righteous. So you acknowledge and walk in that.
Brother Paul begins to remind them of their spiritual state, who they are, which is the new man created after God. The believer is in Christ, but he has a responsibility to renew his mind. He is complete in Christ but he has to renew his mind with the reality of who he is in Christ.
Therefore, the learning of Christ is to reveal to the understanding of the believer. In your spirit, you're already exactly like Jesus, but your mind needs to be educated to think in line with your reality in your spirit. And that's where teaching and training of God’s word comes in. To reveal to the understanding of the believer the path that he ought to tread in his Christian walk.
Now, the mind of the believer must be renewed. The renewing of the mind. Look at James chapter 1, verse 18 to 23.
Guest (Female): "Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:"
Dr. Abel Damina: Read on.
Guest (Female): "For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls."
Dr. Abel Damina: Now observe that the emphasis is to receive the word with meekness. Receive the word with meekness. So brother James is dealing with a knowledge issue. Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving your own self. Receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your soul.
So the instruction to receive the word, he linked that to their conduct: filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness. That’s knowledge. Look at James 1:22. James chapter 1, verse 22.
Guest (Female): "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."
Dr. Abel Damina: Deceiving your own selves. The emphasis is on doing the word. To do the word. However, a man can only act on what he knows. You cannot act on what you don’t know. So the hearing comes before the acting. The hearing comes before the acting.
Again, the first thing is, what is known? What do you know? What have you come to believe? What have you been informed of? What’s the source of the knowledge you’ve known all your life? Whatever is doing you is inside you. Nobody is doing you from outside. If anybody is doing you from outside, it’s because he found a landing ground inside.
All those stupid things they taught you in the village, taught you in your family, taught you among your friends, taught you by people you respected, people you thought knew something even though in their foolishness they were very loud and you received their foolishness as a transfer and it formed your belief system. That is what is doing you. Satan cannot come from outside and finish you until there is something inside that enabled him from outside.
So if we can renew what you think and we can renew what you believe and we can change your entire belief system, we can fortify you against external aggressor. Because as a man thinketh, so is he. You can never be better than the quality of your mind. So what is known is critical. When a man only hears without doing the same, he deceives himself. Coming to church and writing notes and not applying them makes you a self-deceived man. Why do you want to learn when you’re not going to apply it? Why do you want to learn when you don’t want to apply it?
The word "deceive" is from the Greek word *paralogizomai*. Which is to give another impression of yourself. Like acting in a drama. It implies when the word of God is acted upon, another impression or picture of yourself is given. To be self-deceived means to act a script that is not you. To pretend to be who you’re not.
You know, when you act a drama and they say you should act like a dog in the drama. And you go, "Woof, woof, woof, woof!" You’re not a dog, but you’re acting it. You’re giving another impression of yourself. To be self-deceived means to act a script that is not you. So you’re a child of God but you’re acting contrary to who you are. You’re born again, you have the life of God, but you’re busy bringing village proverbs.
Our people say when you wake up in the morning and hit your left leg, it will be a bad day. When you start believing those old wives' fables, you become a victim of that thought pattern. You can never rise higher than your belief system.
For if any man be a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass. He is looking at the mirror, but when he walks away, he forgets what he saw and begins to act contrary to what he saw. One moment he says, "I am healed." Another moment he says, "I am sick." Another moment he says, "I know I can never be healthy because I have carried disease all my life. This my sickness has returned." He has owned it. So why does he want us to pray to take away from him his precious possession?
We are praying, he’s shouting "Amen" with tears in his eyes, but he doesn’t believe the prayer. A man can be crying and you think it’s because he believes your prayer. His crying is that he’s pitying the kind of energy you’re using to pray for him because he knows it will not work. That’s why he’s crying for you.
Somebody said, "And my mother really didn't want to die, she was even crying." It’s not true. Cry is not a true reflection of a belief system. Leave that thing. "But the man really believe God for a miracle." How do you measure belief? What’s your barometer or believe-meter for measuring belief? How do you know the man didn’t want to die? Only God and the man knows what is happening inside. You don’t know anything, just relax. People are wonderful.
James says hearer of the word but not a doer of the word. He referred to the word of God as a mirror. Mirror, for he beholdeth himself and goeth his way and straightway forgetteth what manner of men he was. Therefore, the believer upon seeing himself in the mirror, which is God’s word, must act on it. You must act on it. But one that looks at himself and forgets, he lays aside what he sees in the mirror, cannot act on the word of God. He says, "Eh, the Bible says so but let’s be realistic." They don’t act on God’s word. Read for me verse 25, PJ. James 1:25.
Guest (Female): "But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed."
Dr. Abel Damina: He looketh into the perfect law of liberty and continueth therein. He being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer. The reason a man hears the word and forgets who he saw in the mirror is because he did not continue to look. He just glanced and forgot.
The illustration I used to give is that time when my office used to be down here and I had a reflective glass on my office. On Sunday mornings when you sisters arrive at church, you come straight to that reflective glass and you're doing—I’m sitting in the office and I’m looking at you, I’m laughing like I will die. You don’t know I’m seeing you, you think you’re standing before a mirror, but I’m watching everything.
The one you did at home, is it not enough? You reach church, you are doing fashion. You even catwalk. Then they will remove lipstick. I will laugh and laugh and laugh. Every Sunday is a movie. Diverse participants.
Why she is doing that is because the one she saw at home did not register. So she has to look again. But when a lady stands before a mirror long enough in the house and sees every detail consciously and walks out of that house and you say, "Eh, you didn’t tie your wrapper well," she says, "Leave it like that for me, I like it like that. I know exactly the way I tied it is correct." Because she knows what she saw.
But if she did it without thinking and she looked casually and she came out and somebody said, "Ah-ah, why is your makeup like that?" she starts cleaning without hearing anything straight because she’s not sure of herself. When you look into the word of God casually and Satan says you cannot make it, you start saying, "By faith I will make it. Satan, you're a liar, I will make it," because you’re not sure.
But when you look into the word of God enough and you see yourself in the word and you register it well and Satan says you cannot make it, tell him, "Shut your mouth up. I’m not trying to make it. I made it long ago." I feel like I'm preaching here. When you stay in the word long enough, the word conditions the way you think. It conditions what you believe and it conditions how you function.
Now, we said can a believer be held bound in his mind and the answer was yes, if you allow darkness to operate in your mind. Last Sunday we took time to deal with a number of things. First of all, we talked about your mouth, the words you speak. Brother James says there are things that are sensual. Give me that James 3:13-15. James chapter 3, verse 13 to 15.
Guest (Female): "Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish."
Dr. Abel Damina: Did you observe? This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, and devilish. "Sensual" means of the flesh. OK? So flesh means sensual. This wisdom there, he says this wisdom is envying and strife and confusion. Look at the next verse, verse 16.
Guest (Female): "For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work."
Dr. Abel Damina: This wisdom that is earthly, sensual, and devilish is envy and strife and confusion. Where there is envy, where there is strife, where there is confusion, there is every evil work. Satan is the master in an environment of envy, strife, and confusion.
What does it mean to have strife? To always be quarrelsome, angersome, troublesome. You go around making trouble with people, toxicifying the environment. Anywhere you are, there must be a brawl. You never enter anywhere and contribute to peace. Your presence is synonymous with trouble. People avoid you.
That kind of person is always in tandem with a satanic agenda. Because he says where there is envy, strife, and confusion, there will be every evil work. So that means Satan can hold a man bound in his habits, fleshly habits, something that appeals to the old man, something that appeals to your heart. It starts with what you hear and your heart likes it.
Galatians begins to tell us these habits, sensual habits. And one of them is lasciviousness, which means looseness. It can cause confusion. Lasciviousness is to lose self-control. No self-control, no barriers, no boundary. When you cannot control your eating habits, you cannot control—you talk too much. Satan is at the door.
When you are a talkative, Satan will make sure your life is always lacking power and progress because your mouth is too loose for a man that will succeed. James tells us a man that cannot control his tongue cannot control his body. The tongue controls a man’s life. Your entire life is controlled by your mouth.
He says a man that can control his tongue can bridle his body. A man that cannot control the things that come out of his mouth cannot control the outcome of his life. Let’s see something he can do from the Old Testament. In the book of First Samuel, chapter 16, verse 14 to 16.
Guest (Female): "But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him."
Dr. Abel Damina: Now, you know what an evil spirit from the Lord—I’ve taken time and teach that. Next verse.
Guest (Female): "And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee. Let our lord now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well."
Dr. Abel Damina: Give me verse 23.
Guest (Female): "And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him."
Dr. Abel Damina: Last Sunday we said a believer that is always moody has a demonic situation. A child of God that is always moody has a demonic situation. Righteousness, peace, and joy. So when a child of God is in the Holy Ghost, what will you find around him? Joy. Joy all the time. The fruit of the spirit is love expressed in joy.
He says find a man that will play music. When they began to play music, the evil spirit departed. When they began to play something anointed, the evil spirit left. See another instance. First Samuel, chapter 18, verse 10 to 12.
Guest (Female): "And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul's hand. And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice. And Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was with him, and was departed from Saul."
Dr. Abel Damina: The man had uncontrollable anger. Moody and uncontrollable anger opens the door for the devil to oppress a man. Have you ever seen a place where somebody abuses domestically? Whether a man who abuses his wife domestically or a wife that abuses her husband domestically. Do you know that when that demon comes on them, even their eyes change? Their eyes will change.
You will see the man suddenly he wants to kill the woman. Something has taken hold of him. It’s no more normal. You see somebody get angry and carry a bottle and smash. That’s not a normal operation because normal people don’t smash bottles, or carry the TV and smash the wall with it, or take a knife. An evil spirit is in operation at that time. There's a demonic oppression. That is not a human being operating.
So anger, uncontrollable anger invites evil spirits. Just like a man that is always frowning, trying to look serious. You’re just inviting evil spirits. "Bless you, brother." "Bless you." "Good morning, sir." "Morning." Trying to make people think you’re tough. You’re inviting demons.
As a child of God, everywhere you are found, you should carry grace. You should carry joy. Countenance should be cheerful. Cheerfulness is not laughter. You should be cheerful, you should be friendly, you should be a blessing. You should speak words that edify. Somebody shout, "I hear you."
Some people come to church and they just snap. Is that how to greet? Should I lie down? First Samuel, chapter 19, verse 9 to 10.
Guest (Female): "And the evil spirit from the Lord was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand. And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin; but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night."
Dr. Abel Damina: Do you see that? It’s David that he would have killed. That’s an evil spirit. So evil spirits come to aid people to do bad things. That's why you cannot afford to be in the flesh. You cannot afford the works of the flesh because they will open the door to Satan and they will open the door to evil spirits.
Now, you won’t be possessed, but you can be oppressed. You won’t be possessed, but you can be depressed. What brings depression is when the word of God begins to be deficient in your life. When you start lacking the word of God. The deficiency of God’s word begins to create a sense of hopelessness.
You start feeling hopeless and empty, and circumstances begin to look like you can never make it. Then the devil now capitalizes on that sense of hopelessness and begins to suggest death. And then at that moment, death looks like a tantalizing offer. That’s why people kill themselves. Evil spirits get involved. A depression takes place.
Depression is the deficiency of God’s word. That’s why the word of God must fill you up. You must be full of God’s word. The word of God must dwell in you richly. You must be so full of God’s word that there's no room for depression, no room for oppression, no room for Satan’s attack on you. So as a child of God, when these suggestions begin to come, what do you do? James chapter 4, verse 7, "Resist the devil and he will flee."
Guest (Female): "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
Dr. Abel Damina: The word "flee" means to run with terror. He will run with terror. "Resist the devil" means take a stand on the word of God. Humble yourself. Agree with the word of God. To agree with the word of God is to be humble before the word of God. And the devil will run with terror. When you are loyal to the word of God and you mount up a resistance and you say, "No, this sickness cannot stay here, in the name of Jesus." You are corroborating God’s word and mounting a resistance. The devil will flee with terror.
In every area of your life, you take a stand. Having done all to stand, stand therefore. How do you stand? You stand by the word. The believer's armor against the devil is the word of God. The only weapon you have against the devil is the word of God. It’s not strong will. Apostle Paul says, "Resist the devil." Paul said, "Be strong in the Lord." Ephesians 4:27 says, "Give no place to the devil." Give no place. No anger, no emotions, no accommodating ungodly emotions. Give no room to the devil. Keep yourself in the love of God. Glory to God.
Say with me, "I am born of God. I have the life of God." Say it again, "I have the life of God." Say it very loud, "I am born of God. I have the life of God. I walk in the light. I have the light of God. And the light of God shines in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not." Stand on your feet and say it very loud, "I have the light of God and by the word of God, I navigate through life in victory." Say it again very loud, "I am born of God. I am born of the world. And whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world. I overcome the world. I overcome the devil. I overcome his wiles and I live in victory." Glory to God.
Who is living in victory here this morning? Somebody shout, "I have victory over Satan, over demons. I have victory over all the strategies of the devil. I am in victory." Whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world, and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
So this morning, if there is a condition you’ve been dealing with, we’re going to resist it and it will run with terror. It will not stay there any longer. Whether it is a condition of health or a condition of mind or a condition of circumstances, they will obey the word of God.
I like you to say, "My hands are anointed. My hands are powered by God and I am ordained to make a difference in my world." Glory to God. We’re going to pray for one another this morning and we’re going to minister to one another. We’re going to speak over each other’s life.
As we pray for one another, if you’re not feeling well, tell the person standing by you, "I need healing for my body." If you need a miracle, tell the person standing by you, "I need a miracle." All of us are going to minister to one another in this building for another few minutes, and the power of God is in this house and the power of God is available to heal, to deliver and to set free. Glory to God. I like you to hold somebody. Let’s begin to pray together for one another this morning.
Pray for one another that you may be healed. At the name of Jesus, every knee bows. Take authority. Whatever is not planted by God, rooted out! Rooted out! Where you need a miracle, receive that miracle now. We dissolve doubt. We cancel every oppression of the enemy.
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. It maketh tremendous power available that is dynamic in its workings. Before you call, I will answer. While you are yet speaking, I will hear you. He that asketh receiveth, he that seeketh findeth, he that knocketh the door shall be opened. Receive answers!
We rebuke asthma, we rebuke oppression, we rebuke high blood pressure, we rebuke pain. In the name of Jesus, we command the devil, get your hands off! Thank you, Father. That miracle is received. That favor is released. Things are shifting in your favor.
Lift your hands and begin to give thanks. Begin to thank God for answers to prayer. Begin to thank God for miracles. Begin to thank God for the flow of His power. rejoice and celebrate the victory and celebrate testimonies and celebrate healing and celebrate favor and celebrate openness and celebrate promotion. Celebrate!
Glory! Throughout this week, it will be a harvest of testimonies. I said it will be a harvest of testimonies! Some of you things have shifted in your life. The devil has moved away, his holds are broken. Suddenly you will see things falling in place, things rearranging themselves. Favor! Glory to God.
Oh, I tell you men, you take this word and you go listen to it again and fortify yourself with God’s word and tell the devil: no further shall you go. Thus far have you come and this is the end of it. Glory to God.
I don’t want to miss the next service. And we want to welcome all our friends and family to this service. Can we celebrate every friend and family who came to this service this morning? Is that the way you celebrate in Power City? Glory to God.
I’ll talk to friends and family in a few minutes, but grab your offerings. Let’s honor God’s word this morning. Today’s partnership service. Receive ideas, receive concepts, receive insights, receive opportunities. In the name of Jesus. Every relationship you require to do well and do better in business, we command those relationships release your way.
Now Satan, take your hands off of the resources of our partners. And we decree that in this season, you make more, much more moneys. You receive much more opportunities, you seize more moments and you do greater things for the kingdom. Father, we thank you for all our partners all over the world, and we decree that through this month, each partner makes more progress. Your body is healthy. Your family is blessed. Thank you for receiving our offerings and the blessing upon it. In Jesus’ name we pray. And every believer says a powerful amen. Glory!
Well, I want to welcome all the families and friends in all our campuses who came to worship with us for the first time today. I believe you’ve heard some word that has blessed you in this service. Our brethren over in your campuses will celebrate you for coming today, but we love you and we acknowledge that you came to worship with us. God’s grace is yours in the name of Jesus.
Oh my goodness, the word of God is life. The Bible tells us, the entrance of God's word giveth light and it giveth understanding to the simple. As you keep listening, the light of God's word rises out of the rightly divided word of truth, illuminates your mind, illuminates your heart, and brings you face to face with your realities in Christ Jesus.
In Ephesians chapter 3, verse 3, brother Paul speaking about the mystery, the Old Testament, he says, "Whereby when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ." So there is a knowledge in the mystery of Christ. The word "mystery" is the word *mysterion* in the Greek. It means that which is concealed. And then he says how that by revelation—the word "revelation" is the word *apokalypsis*, it means that which is revealed. So the revelation of the scriptures unveils the mysteries. Revelation is the New Testament, mystery is the Old Testament.
But it will take reading and learning to come to a place of full understanding, precise and accurate knowledge. Brother Daniel would say, "I understood by books." So there's a place of books in equipping you soundly with the message of Christ. Brother Paul would write to Timothy, he says, "Till I come, give attendance to reading." Jesus speaking to those Jews says, "You do err because you know not the scriptures nor the power of God." Often times Jesus would say to the Jews, "Have you not read?" which is the word *anaginosko* in the Greek. It means, "Are you reading and not paying attention?"
I want to quickly recommend for you a plethora of books I have written. They are written with an intent to bring you doctrinal clarity, answer your questions doctrinally, and bring you to a place of accurate understanding, a precise knowledge of Christ and you in Christ.
