A Calculated Assault Against Cancer | Pastor Shane Idleman
Shane Idleman: The only planet that supports life, and he hears you cry at 2:00 a.m., "Lord, help me." That God, that God who created the heavens and the earth, who owns everything in the palm of his hands, that God hears, "I hear the cry of my children." If you can't strengthen yourself in the Lord on that, I don't know what to tell you.
He heard me. He delivered me. Listen, guys, the well of living waters is open tonight. Come and drink deeply of that well. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Taste and see that the Lord is good.

Shane Idleman: Guys, this is actually why I feel the best, honestly, is the biggest changes I've made. I eat pretty good, but when you eat really good, you can feel a big difference. I talk about sometimes epigenetics. When you look at cancer, you can watch a cell and it is taking millions of signals from the DNA and genetics. Your food, let's say your blueberries, your antioxidants, your pectin from the apple, your fiber, these are positive responses to help build immunity.
You throw in a Taco Bell Grande, and it is toxic. The cells don't know what to do; you're not helping them. This is a big deal. Food either fights disease or it fuels it. There's no other way around it. Look at the things I just mentioned in the natural. Are they things we consume? There are so many things I could have gotten into—DMSO, methylene blue, apple cider vinegar.
I do want to throw this out there. A lot of people have been sending alkaline water. Your body will automatically balance out things, so I don't invest in alkaline water or pH balance. Your body and your gut bacteria automatically balance it out. Traditional treatments may work at the surface of cancer, but nutrition works at the source of cancer. You can get the surface, but you've got to get to the source of it.
Next point: low carb, real food. This is key. Eating real food, God-given food, in moderation with fasting is the biggest change you can make. Food either fights disease or it feeds it. Point to ponder: if diet doesn't matter, why do they use sugar, glucose, to find cancer in the body during a PET scan? Fludeoxyglucose, to be exact. It lights up because of that reactive agent. It loves glucose.
Like I mentioned, cancer loves glucose. It's weird how it works because a normal cell will take the glucose, something called pyruvate is manufactured, and then quite a bit of ATP is produced. But the cancer cell uses lactate and has a lot less ATP, adenosine triphosphate. It just uses a little bit of that energy, but it chooses glucose. It chooses sugar. It also feeds off glutamine and things like that.
You can go down many rabbit trails thinking about what diet is best. I don't think God's concerned if you eat too many blueberries. Use wisdom and moderation. Especially with sugar, what you're doing is avoiding the things that will feed that cancer. It's a proven fact called the Warburg effect. You can look it up and how they have found that it really helps.
Oncologists I know will say diet doesn't matter. Really? How many years of nutrition training do you have? They'll tell you four hours. They don't know how the body works. They don't know what they don't know. Whether it's pride, whether it's money, or whether it's lack of knowledge, I don't know. But you've got to be your own best doctor. Talk to your doctor, talk to nurses, learn, get advice, get godly counsel. But ultimately, look into things yourself before you jump right into things.
Because most cancer cells primarily use glucose for energy, a phenomenon known as the Warburg effect, ketogenic diets have a potential positive effect on cancer. A low-carbohydrate, high-fat keto diet forces the body into a state of ketosis, burning fat for fuel and producing molecules called ketones. Researchers are exploring how this metabolic shift may starve tumors, as many cancers lack the flexibility to use ketones for fuel and growth when glucose is restricted. They basically run out of fuel.
Dr. Valter Longo writes in *The Longevity Diet* that by reducing calories from proteins and sugars, you can decrease the activities of the growth hormone receptors that accelerate aging. There's so much proof on this. I know it's not what we want to hear, but it's what we need to hear. So, let's go to the next point here. What diet is best? This question caused me a lot of stress the first week.
Do what you can, then leave the results up to God. My advice is based on the biblical account and all this research. Focus primarily on living, low-glycemic plant foods with high nutrient density as well as raw nuts, seeds, and a moderate amount of berries along with a little bit of fresh-caught fish, some eggs, and, of course, if you're going to eat meat, just make sure it's very clean and in moderation. Again, this is based on my research.
Now, you also get into juicing. What about Chris Beat Cancer? Everybody has heard of that. He juiced. Some might say that is a lot of fructose. There are ways around this. God leads people differently. You don't want to get dogmatic; you just want to trust him in all of these things. Big sprouts are probably one of the most nutritious foods on the planet. I wasn't aware of that. Broccoli sprouts are twenty to thirty times more powerful and nutrient-dense than broccoli itself. Incredible. And you can grow them at home very easily.
The exact theme throughout the booklet is to seek God for direction and wisdom. When you don't know what to do, step out in faith and trust him. His sovereignty is the key to your sanity. I'm just going to add a few more things before we close out. Number two, this is so important for disease and cancer in general: you've got to incorporate intermittent fasting. Think about it. If something's feeding the cancer, the longer you can give it a break, the better. Of course, within moderation. You don't want to turn into an eating disorder. You've got to eat, but you don't have to eat every three hours. Give the body some time.
I believe that we are experiencing a national health crisis because we are eating the wrong types of food and too much of it. Begin here as soon as possible. Here's one of the biggest keys. Reaching your ideal body weight is very important. The weight that we carry makes it more difficult to focus on health and vitality. That's just study after study after study. Finally, health cannot be a fad; it must become a lifestyle. Use the stumbling block of cancer or disease to become a stepping stone towards really making some serious changes in your life.
I have to throw this in there too because it's very important: sleep. So many things happen with sleep. You've got to get the sleep in there. There are things like L-theanine, melatonin, and magnesium that can really help with sleep. Turn the electronics off, limit caffeine in the afternoon, and eat your last meal three or four hours before you go to bed. Deep REM, restful sleep is where the body can really heal and do its deepest work. Be encouraged. I had some very difficult nights of sleep, but those early morning worship times were some of the best, most precious seasons I've ever had with the Lord.
You can't win a war if you're constantly feeding the enemy. Diet and lifestyle changes are among the biggest factors in overcoming disease. We shouldn't choose some good habits while allowing a lot of bad habits. We need to really rein in all of this. So here's my biggest lesson learned that I want to share with you: nothing works perfectly. Nothing works perfectly. We must trust in God and him alone. He may take away all hope so that we finally look to the one who is hope. That's the biggest lesson.
You can do all this stuff, and God might say it's not going to work. Or he can use alternative or conventional methods through your doctor and oncologist. I don't know. That's between you and the Lord. But I would really encourage you to research and look at what the treatment is actually doing because you need your immunity. Most people who go through a lot of conventional treatment have a shot immunity.
I wanted to be careful; I didn't even write this down. I don't know if I wanted to say it until I just remembered it now. But I would say, and I'm going to be conservative, seven out of ten people I've talked to in the last month who went conventional said they would have done things differently looking back. I'm just shooting you straight. At least seven out of ten. Because they were pushed, they were rushed, they were forced. And God's voice is the still small voice of God. Yes, I might do what you say, but I won't be rushed or pushed into things. "You've got to hurry. You've got to get on this." Really? Maybe so. I'm a big fan of early diagnosis—identify it, smack it, remove it. Prostate cancer, you can remove something. Other types of cancer, skin cancer, absolutely. But make sure you're seeking the Lord. Even on a quick decision, you want to seek him. You don't want to be forced and pushed into things.
Now I want to talk in close. We talked about the natural, now let's talk about the supernatural. This is what excites me. What I just talked about doesn't excite me as much. I feel an obligation—well, I guess I shouldn't say that. I'm excited to get you this information and excited to help people. We've had 3,000 downloads of that booklet in four days. So many people are being encouraged and helped and have never thought about this. But remember, don't just go by it. I recommend some supplement places, but with Amazon, you've got to really watch. I try to go to compounding pharmacies that actually put it together. Everything is in the booklet.
You can't just say, "Okay, I've got all these. I've got laetrile, I've got black seed oil. Now I'm ready." No. How's your diet? How's your sleep? How's your walk with the Lord? What's he telling you? How's he leading you? Do you know what this is for? Do you know how much? Are you going to take a break? Are you going to involve cycling? I've got to find a doctor that's going to prescribe ivermectin and fenbendazole. How much? Twelve milligrams of ivermectin four times a day or once a day? Five hundred milligrams of fenbendazole once a day or twice a day? How do you know if your body's responding? What do you look for? You can't just go rush out. Let God lead you and direct you. Ask him for wisdom.
Everything I just shared with you was bathed in a lot of prayer and a lot of study. I could have gone into a lot of other things. Google DMSO. Google methylene blue, and you can see there are different things. Be careful, though, with DMSO. You take a tablespoon, and you're going to smell for about two days. It's a metallic smell that gets in your skin. It's very good for anti-inflammatory properties. You see, the thing is that at the cellular level, cancer is at the cellular level, so you have to fight it at that level. That's you have to go, you have to hit it.
A lot of times, cancer stem cells are not affected by chemotherapy. They're not. Ask an oncologist, "Are the stem cells that caused it affected?" You've got to get to the cause. How do I do that? Build up natural immunity. Strengthen yourself. Oxygen. If I can't get to a hyperbaric chamber, I go on a good walk and breathe deeply. All that exercise, the hormonal shifts, the response. What are we getting out in the light? Vitamin D. I'll take that over a pill any day because that's the way God designed it. But instead, we go put all this sunscreen on with 80 different chemicals that actually have been known to cause cancer.
Let's focus on these and we'll have worship. Psalm 103: "Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things."
I realized he who heals all your diseases, I believe God heals when the reason behind the disease is addressed. Is he humbling you? Is he breaking you? Is he calling you home? Is it to trust him, to seek him? Is it to lead somebody to the Lord? And that's the thing about nutrition: is my lifestyle what I'm doing to the temple creating the disease? If so, I might want to make some temple-cleansing changes like Josiah and clean the temple. Then I might see the results. God might lead you to do that, and I'm fairly certain it's biblical.
Psalm 46: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will I not fear." So what do you do? You go into prayer. You go into worship. Nothing else matters but seeking him. You get that time in the morning or you get that time in the evening, and you pursue him like never before. He does not forget the cry of the humble. "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me." Oh, I love Psalm 34:4: "I sought the Lord, and he heard me."
Did you know God hears you? Isn't that comforting? "But I don't feel it. I don't see it." But I know he hears me. I know heaven hears me. Are you aware that we have like a trillion galaxies? And then inside each galaxy is billions of stars? What? Can you just pick that God? That God hears your cry. That God hears your cry. A little tiny planet in the Milky Way galaxy, this little tiny planet with blue water on it, the only planet that supports life. And he hears you cry at 2:00 a.m., "Lord, help me."
That God, that God who created the heavens and the earth, who owns everything in the palm of his hands, that God hears, "I hear the cry of my children." If you can't strengthen yourself in the Lord on that, I don't know what to tell you. He heard me. He delivered me. Listen, guys, the well of living waters is open tonight. Come and drink deeply of that well. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Taste and see that the Lord is good. I sought the Lord, and he heard me.
What a promise. Can you imagine if it said he might try harder or he might hear you? You seek the Lord, you find him. And let me tell you, when you find him, you love him. And when you love him, you want to seek him. And it's everything; it's precious. That's why I pray, "Lord, take this from me, but don't take this from me if it's going to take the intimacy away from you." The more you seek him, the more you find him.
Me and the floor spent a lot of time together. The floor. "Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak: O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled." When you're downcast, it says to look up. "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills." It's actually probably saying your strength is not coming from armies coming down, but it comes from heaven. "My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber." Nothing excites me more than this topic.
You know what? Many people say, "I want to go deeper." But do you really? Do you really want to go deeper? Because, Lord, if pain causes me to go deeper, burn me down. Break me. Humble me, God. Heaven heard my cry. Heaven hears your cry. And let me tell you, often, sometimes it's not euphoric; there aren't goosebumps. You just sit. You just sit, and you know your Savior's holding you.
You sit in the arms of Jesus. That's how you know that he's real, because he comforts you in those dark moments, in those times. And you do; you come to the grips of, "Lord, if it's my time, I want you to just be with me. If you're giving me many more years, I want you to be with me. God, I just want more of you. I want more of you, Lord." And you rest in that.
And you've got to keep reminding yourself that my joy comes from the Lord, my strength comes from the Lord. And I don't know how it works, but I love that it works. But the more you seek him, the more you find him. The more you worship, the more you pray, the more you go to battle, the Lord hears your prayers. And I don't know of any other way to do that than to worship, than to worship.
The Bible was precious to me, but there were times where I didn't even go to it. I just had to worship. I had to worship. I had to pray and worship and seek God. Because sometimes you know what the Word says, but now you've got to experience God in your heart and in your life.

When I was first diagnosed with cancer, I was amazed at the environment of negativity and fear that encompassed most medical facilities. Not to mention all the well-meaning people who offered tons of advice regarding “what I should be doing” — it was truly overwhelming.
And when YouTube removed my announcement about my diagnosis because I dared to use the word “alternatives,” I said, “Game on!” Their censorship, along with my diagnosis, awakened a renewed fire … a renewed passion for God, truth, faith, trust, and perseverance.

About Regaining Lost Ground
Today, as we continually drift away in a current of moral decline and relativism, many believe that the battle is too advanced and that we cannot make a difference. Shane, however, believes that we can. He stresses: "If we encourage truth, yet fail to relate to our culture, the church can seem formal and dead. This fact fuels the postmodern movement. But when truth is sacrificed for the sake of relating to the culture, as we see today, the very foundation is destroyed. Truth, the foundational beliefs clearly outlined in Scripture, must remain unmoved and unchanged. Times change, but truth does not!
About Pastor Shane Idleman
Author/speaker, Shane Idleman, has written twelve compelling, biblically-based books, and has obtained quotes from such noted pastors and leaders as Jack Hayford, D. James Kennedy, Tony Perkins, David Barton, Mike MacIntosh, Dr. Peter Lillback, Bob Coy, and Raul Ries, and from organizations such as the National Academy of Sports Medicine, Promise Keepers, American Family Association, and Family Research Council.
What makes this story so inspiring is that Idleman had a promising career as a Corporate Executive, but he left it behind to follow a dream that God placed in his heart after he committed his life to Christ. In his words: "While I had focused on prosperity, wealth, and success, I had starved my soul. I tried everything that the world had to offer, but ultimately, I found that it offered little of lasting value." When asked why he thought that his ministry is being so well received, he added: "The overwhelming response simply reflects the need that we all have for the truths found in God’s Word."
Shane is known for crossing denominational lines. He adds, "We must strive for unity in the essentials, and grace in the non-essentials. We need sound doctrine and the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s possible to be Bible taught, but not Spirit led—straight as a gun barrel theologically, but just as empty. The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. We desperately need both" (cf. 2 Corinthians 3:6).
Idleman is the founder and lead pastor of Westside Christian Fellowship in Southern California. His sermons, books, articles, and radio program have sparked change in the lives of many. For more, visit WCFAV.org, or ShaneIdleman.com.
