A Calculated Assault Against Cancer | Pastor Shane Idleman

March 31, 2026

Pastor Shane Idleman: The key to your sanity, and I'm just going to add a few more things. And again, I've got so much more in that booklet that will help you, but I want to get this out there. But number two, this is so important for disease and cancer in general, you've got to incorporate intermittent fasting.

Think about it. If cancer, something's feeding it, and the longer you can give it a break. Of course, within moderation, you don't want to turn it into an eating disorder, you've got to eat, but you don't have to eat every three hours. Give the body some time, a window there. It's like we were created.

Guest (Male): Thank you for joining us here at Westside Christian Fellowship, located in Leona Valley, California, one hour north of Los Angeles. Today on Regaining Lost Ground, we hear the second part of this urgent message from Pastor Shane titled "A Calculated Assault Against Cancer." Listen now as Pastor Shane delivers one of the most transparent messages of his life. Walk with Shane as he opens up about his recent fight with cancer and how by faith in Jesus, with knowledge from the truth of His living Word, you too can overcome today here on Regaining Lost Ground.

We also encourage you to hear more truth from Pastor Shane with the Idleman Unplugged weekly podcast. And now from Westside Christian Fellowship in Leona Valley, California, here's Pastor Shane Idleman.

Pastor Shane Idleman: Even if you have nothing, you have everything. And there are places I can recommend for those who want more information. Long story short, you're forcing oxygen into the body. Cancer cells do not like oxygen. They actually, I mean, so many rabbit trails.

A cancer cell will actually, have you heard of the Warburg effect? It's been on Instagram, a lot of these ads. The medical industry calls it aerobic glycolysis. And it's the cancer cells instead of taking glucose, breaking it down, converting to ATP, the whole Krebs cycle thing, it takes lactate as an energy source. It doesn't like the oxygen.

It doesn't want to wake up the mitochondria either because the mitochondria will induce apoptosis and destroy it. So it's very sneaky. It loves low oxygen. So when you're pumping the oxygen into the system, these places take it a step further. They take the barometric pressure to like 2.0, like you're 40 feet under ocean pressure, and the pressure of the cells shows very promising results fighting cancer. Again, National Library of Medicine. Not Shane Idleman thinking of some wonky stuff.

There's tons of it. I called the hospital, I talked down to the hospital. If an oncologist recommends it, we can get you in. As long as you're doing it in conjunction with, you got it, fill in the blanks. So if any of you have an oncologist and you're fighting this, I would encourage you to look into this. Do your own research, especially if your insurance will cover it. Mine won't.

Next slide. High-dose intravenous vitamin C therapy. Research indicates, now this is from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, guys, and there's tons of articles. Why is this information not out there? Because most of us don't want to sit for an hour and a half with a big IV of 50 grams. It's a lot.

And so what does it do? It's actually not the vitamin C as the antioxidant. What it does is it converts to hydrogen peroxide and it's a reactive oxygen species. So while normal cells can easily neutralize this compound, many tumor cells are much less capable of removing it. This leads to targeted oxidative stress that can damage the DNA and tissue of the tumor while leaving the healthy cells unharmed.

They'll go to your house, $500 a pop. Again, this isn't me, hey, this is what I think. This is medical stuff. And guess what? I talked to some places, they can prescribe it if your oncologist prescribes it. I'm going to scream. Why do you need... Okay, next screen. There's like a system that you can't get help for yourself.

So here's the natural. We're going to talk about the natural for just a minute. Revelation 22:2. How many of you didn't even know this verse exists in the Bible? "The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations." Now while Shane, Revelation, I think that's just imagery of... okay, maybe, but that's pretty specific. There was also a tree in the garden where you could live forever. Ezekiel: "Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing."

I've got thick books on holistic medicine where certain leaves and herbs... I know many of you have seen some amazing results by God's design. But here's the... well, I don't want to jump ahead. Okay, I will for a minute. You can't go... you've got strep throat, got a sore throat, you can't just go get some colloidal silver spray in your mouth. You can't.

Okay, what's your diet like? Are you fasting? Are you getting rest? I mean, there's this... this is a targeted approach. This isn't like, oh, let me go take this pill. No, no, no, this is a targeted approach. You need the Marines and the National Guard and the Air Force and Army. You need all of them at your disposal. So get away from "I'll just go get a little pill." No, no, you need to get the whole body involved in real healing.

So remember, we are not guaranteed healing at all, but we are guaranteed intimacy, intimacy with God if we seek Him during the process. Isn't that so true? All right, let's flip the slides over. I've got to put this up there, right? No, but in all honesty, this is not professional medical advice. I'm not diagnosing, treating, curing, preventing any disease.

Consult a physician, especially if pregnant, nursing, or taking medications. Additionally, these statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Okay, glad to hear that. Hope Kennedy changes that. The natural. This stuff blows my mind. Number one, probably the most controversial: Laetrile.

Laetrile is the compound pill form. Amygdalin is what they give you intravenously, like in the places where... so actually this was done a lot in, especially Southern California, the '50s, '60s, '70s until the FDA said... Now this is why people go to Tijuana to get it done. This is actually what Steve McQueen was doing and they say, "Oh, he died from this." He actually died of a heart attack because his body was broken down by the conventional therapy, if you look into it.

So Laetrile, it's from apricot seeds. Oh my goodness, Shane's getting weird. Not really. Here's why. And the medical industry will say, "Oh, Laetrile." But they have no concerns with Fruit Loops, Coke, or Pop-Tarts, so I don't really care what they have to say about this. There's a lot. Look at the thing.

So what it does: inside apricot seeds, each seed is about 20 milligrams, there is a little bit of cyanide. Guess what? Cancer cells can't fight that. Your cell has an enzyme in the mitochondria that responds so that it neutralizes it. So very, very promising. However, most of those places, especially down in Tijuana, they use amygdalin.

It's an intravenous therapy. It's about three grams, so you'd have to eat about 150 apricot seeds. Don't recommend that. Even the bags say don't eat more than three an hour. But I've taken 500 milligrams at once and felt fine. So I mean, how is God's design? You use wisdom, you research. They went back to the since the '70s and you can look... I've got a book this thick of all the testimonies from lymphoma, leukemia, squamous cell carcinoma and how it just...

And the people took... because it's natural. If it works, again, these are studies I've looked at. And the Hunza people in northern Pakistan have historically been associated with longevity due to their high consumption of apricots and their seeds, and it appears that they're doing okay. So isn't that amazing? Let's see what's the next thing God may have provided.

Oh, black seed oil. A 2002 study, and you can read the study on my article, it showed that black seed oil can stop cancer cells from proliferating and may also induce death in those cells. And I remember like eight years ago, I knew a guy who was so dialed in with everything and I told him I bought some of that black seed oil, and he's like, "Oh man, you're getting serious." That's known to really help the body in many different areas.

So I wasn't surprised to see that. What about curcumin? Hello. The study showed a polyphenol found in turmeric works against cancer by modulating multiple cellular pathways to inhibit cell survival, proliferation, invasion, and metastasis. That's just a big way of saying it goes to the heart of the issue in the cell and begins to break down the cancer cell. Again, these are all on PubMed and other places. I've got the articles, the links in the article that you can read.

And then the next slide: Vitamin D. How many of you know Vitamin D is not a vitamin? It's a very, very important hormone. And I knew it was important when doctors started to get canceled during COVID when they started to say, "Hey, all these patients are really low in Vitamin D." Vitamin D is so important. It's actually a hormone and it affects our health at a very deep level.

In the article in PubMed noted that the active form works against cancer through various cell and molecular mechanisms, including slowing cell growth, promoting programmed cell death, apoptosis, and reducing metastasis and new blood vessel formation. PubMed. Isn't this just mind-blowing?

Next slide: Mushrooms, the right kinds. So they work through immune system modulation and by containing bioactive compounds that can directly target cancer cells, such as promoting apoptosis again. Apoptosis is cellular suicide, and it does the same thing basically as the last thing. Resource: National Library of Medicine. How is this not out there?

But again, you can't go drive through Taco Bell and then go pop one of these. I'm not even saying pop one of these. I don't know how much to take. That's why my job is just the messenger. My biggest heartache right now is a lot of people are asking what should I do, what should I take, how much, and I can't be that person. I'm not qualified.

I would encourage people to get hooked up with a functional medicine, integrative medicine doctor that combines both. I haven't found one locally here in our area, but many of these things you can look into yourself and get started right away, of course. Next thing: Dandelion root. Anybody surprised with that?

An article in the National Library of Medicine reports that dandelion root is able to induce rapid activation of death receptor pathway of apoptosis in human leukemia and pancreatic cancer cells in a dose and time-dependent manner. Next slide: Other examples, here's a few other ones. Omega-3 fatty acids, specifically the EPA and the DHA are another good choice due to their anti-inflammatory properties.

How many of you have heard of sulforaphane? Found in broccoli and other things. That's a very, very powerful cancer-fighting agent. Now here's what stunned me this week: Boswellia. Frankincense extracts show promising anti-cancer effects. Okay, I'm preparing this, I'm reading Psalm 104 and it said the Lord has given the saps of the trees.

I look it up and frankincense is from the sap of a Boswellia tree. And Psalm 104 that I was studying for tonight says the trees are full of sap. Coincidence? I don't know. God's way. What's next? Okay, here we go. We're going to get a little more technical here. Many times when cancer returns it's because the fortress of the body wasn't guarded.

So people have a great response whether it's chemo, whether it's traditional, whether it's immunotherapy, whether it's alternative, they beat it down, but then it can come back if the fortress isn't guarded. And that's why lifestyle is so important. Being in remission is not a time to go back to destructive habits, it's a time to keep fighting. Amen.

All right, next slide. Food delivers nutrients that signal cellular response that deeply affect epigenetics, the process of turning on and off certain genetic switches. The right food delivers right things, the wrong food turns on the wrong switches. Guys, this is actually why I feel the best, honestly, is the biggest changes I've made. And I ate pretty good, but when you eat really good, you can feel a big difference.

I talk about sometimes epigenetics, and when you look at cancer and you can watch a cell and it's taking millions of signals from the DNA and genetics, and your food, let's say your blueberries, your antioxidants, your pectin from the apple, all these things, the fiber, these are positive responses to help build immunity. You throw in a Taco Bell Grande, toxic, toxic, toxic, and the cells don't know what to... you're not helping them.

This is a big deal. Food either fights disease or it fuels it. There's no other way around it. Look at the things. Did you know many of the things I just mentioned in the natural are things we consume? I mean, there's so many things I could have got into: DMSO, methylene blue, of course, apple cider vinegar. I mean, there's so many different things.

I do want to throw this out there. A lot of people have been sending alkaline water. Your body will automatically balance out things, so I don't invest in alkaline water, alkaline this, alkaline that, pH balance. Your body, your gut bacteria automatically balances it out. So a lot of that might have been some of a myth that they are finding.

Traditional treatments may work at the surface of cancer, but nutrition works at the source of cancer. See, you can get the surface, but you got to get to the source of it. Next: Low-carb, real food. Key. This is key, key, key, key. Eating real food, God-given food in moderation with fasting is the biggest change you can make. Food either fights disease or it feeds it.

Point to ponder: if diet doesn't matter, why do they use sugar, glucose, to find cancer in the body during a PET scan? Fludeoxyglucose, to be exact. It lights up because of that reactive agent. It loves glucose. And remember like I mentioned, cancer, the reason it loves glucose is it'll take that glucose and it's weird how it works.

Because a normal cell will take the glucose and then something called pyruvate is manufactured and then ATP is produced, quite a bit of ATP. But the cancer cell uses lactate and has a lot less ATP, adenosine triphosphate, and it just uses a little bit of that energy, but it chews glucose. It chews sugar. It also feeds off glutamine and things like that.

You can get down many rabbit trails thinking what diet is best. I don't think God's concerned if you eat too many blueberries, okay? So use wisdom, moderation. Glucose, especially the sugar, what you're doing then is you're also avoiding the things that will feed that cancer: sugar, carbohydrates.

Proven fact, again it's called the Warburg effect, you can look it up and how they have found that it really... oncologists, I know will say, "Oh, that doesn't matter, diet doesn't matter." Diet doesn't matter? Really? How many years of nutrition training do you have? You know what they'll tell you? Four hours. Four hours. They don't know how the body works. They don't know what they don't know.

And whether it's pride, whether it's money, whether it's lack of knowledge, I don't know. But you've got to be your best doctor. Talk to your doctor, talk to nurses, learn, get advice, get godly counsel. But ultimately, look into things yourself before you jump right into things. Next slide.

Because most cancer cells primarily use glucose for energy, a phenomenon known as the Warburg effect, ketogenic diets have a potential positive effect on cancer. A low-carbohydrate, high-fat keto diet forces the body into a state of ketosis, burning fat for fuel and producing molecules called ketones. Researchers are exploring how this metabolic shift may starve tumors as many cancer cells lack the flexibility to use ketones for fuel and growth when glucose is restricted. They basically run out of fuel.

Next: Dr. Longo, I'm sorry, yeah, Dr. Valter Longo writes in "The Longevity Diet" that by reducing calories from proteins and sugars, you can decrease the activities of the growth of the hormone receptors that accelerate aging. There's so much proof on this. I know it's not what we want to hear, but it's what we need to hear. So let's go to the next point here.

What diet is best? This question caused me a lot of stress the first week. Do what you can, then leave the results up to God. My advice is based on the biblical account, based on all this research, is to focus primarily on living low-glycemic plant foods with high nutrient density as well as raw nuts, seeds, and a moderate amount of berries along with a little bit of fresh-caught fish, some eggs, and of course if you're going to go with meat, just make sure it's very clean in moderation. Again, based on my research.

Now you also get, "What about juicing? What about Chris Beat Cancer?" Everyone heard of that. About 50,000 people have sent me that stuff. He juiced, and juiced a lot. "Well, that's a lot of fructose, that's a lot of sugar." So obviously there's ways around this. God leads people differently. You don't want to get dogmatic, you just want to trust Him in all of these things.

Next... oh, I just said that, what about juicing? Also, sprouts are probably one of the most nutritious foods on the planet. I wasn't aware of that. Those little sprouts that grow, a broccoli sprout is 20 times more powerful and nutrient-dense than broccoli itself. Incredible. And you can grow them at home very easily.

And again about juicing, and this is the exact theme throughout the booklet, is to seek God for direction and wisdom. When you don't know what to do, step out in faith, trust Him. His sovereignty is the key to your sanity. And I'm just going to add a few more things before we close out. And again, I've got so much more in the booklet that will help you, but I want to get this out there.

A Calculated Assault Against Cancer

When I was first diagnosed with cancer, I was amazed at the environment of negativity and fear that encompassed most medical facilities. Not to mention all the well-meaning people who offered tons of advice regarding “what I should be doing” — it was truly overwhelming.

And when YouTube removed my announcement about my diagnosis because I dared to use the word “alternatives,” I said, “Game on!” Their censorship, along with my diagnosis, awakened a renewed fire … a renewed passion for God, truth, faith, trust, and perseverance.

About Regaining Lost Ground

Today, as we continually drift away in a current of moral decline and relativism, many believe that the battle is too advanced and that we cannot make a difference. Shane, however, believes that we can. He stresses: "If we encourage truth, yet fail to relate to our culture, the church can seem formal and dead. This fact fuels the postmodern movement. But when truth is sacrificed for the sake of relating to the culture, as we see today, the very foundation is destroyed. Truth, the foundational beliefs clearly outlined in Scripture, must remain unmoved and unchanged. Times change, but truth does not!

About Pastor Shane Idleman

Author/speaker, Shane Idleman, has written twelve compelling, biblically-based books, and has obtained quotes from such noted pastors and leaders as Jack Hayford, D. James Kennedy, Tony Perkins, David Barton, Mike MacIntosh, Dr. Peter Lillback, Bob Coy, and Raul Ries, and from organizations such as the National Academy of Sports Medicine, Promise Keepers, American Family Association, and Family Research Council.

What makes this story so inspiring is that Idleman had a promising career as a Corporate Executive, but he left it behind to follow a dream that God placed in his heart after he committed his life to Christ. In his words: "While I had focused on prosperity, wealth, and success, I had starved my soul. I tried everything that the world had to offer, but ultimately, I found that it offered little of lasting value." When asked why he thought that his ministry is being so well received, he added: "The overwhelming response simply reflects the need that we all have for the truths found in God’s Word."

Shane is known for crossing denominational lines. He adds, "We must strive for unity in the essentials, and grace in the non-essentials. We need sound doctrine and the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s possible to be Bible taught, but not Spirit led—straight as a gun barrel theologically, but just as empty. The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. We desperately need both" (cf. 2 Corinthians 3:6).

Idleman is the founder and lead pastor of Westside Christian Fellowship in Southern California. His sermons, books, articles, and radio program have sparked change in the lives of many. For more, visit WCFAV.org, or ShaneIdleman.com.
