I've had a chance to talk to a couple of my kids and realize where I've hurt them and ask for forgivness. We now have a more honest relationship.

My wife is wonderful at encouraging me and she says things almost every day that are an encouragment, and when I share my work with her and things that have gone on in the office, she really expresses a lot of interest.

It's been a busy week and I've gotten up earlier than normal this week, in order just to come in and get things done at the office and it kind of occurred to me there are a lot of things at home that have gone undone and for some reason it's harder to get up early and get those things done. It's easier to come into the office for some reason.

I think of a couple that I know where she complains that he has too much free time by himself and he complains that she wants to do stuff with him, and so they end up just doing their own thing most of the time.

On our honeymoon, the airport security pulled me aside after scanning the luggage…and they found a pie server, which was really long and pointed…looked like a knife. They said, "What are you doing with this? Are you sure this doesn't open?" And they kept stickin' it in my face! And I said, "No," I said, "it's just a souvenir!"

I would say the most difficut time in our marriage was when we experienced the miscarriage of our first child. Although it was difficult, it definitely drew us closer together.

We had a lot of experience trying to get away with things. We'd maybe try to do things behind our folks' back or by telling my parents that I did not understand their expectations.

About Dave and Ann Wilson

Dave and Ann Wilson are co-hosts of FamilyLife Today©, FamilyLife’s nationally-syndicated radio program.

Dave and Ann have been married for more than 40 years and have spent the last 35 teaching and mentoring couples and parents across the country. They have been featured speakers at FamilyLife’s Weekend to Remember® since 1993, and have also hosted their own marriage conferences across the country.

Dave and Ann helped plant Kensington Community Church in Detroit, Michigan where they served together in ministry for more than three decades, wrapping up their time at Kensington in 2020.

The Wilsons are the creative force behind DVD teaching series Rock Your Marriage and The Survival Guide To Parenting, as well as authors of the recently released books Vertical Marriage (Zondervan, 2019) and No Perfect Parents (Zondervan, 2021).

Dave is a graduate of the International School of Theology, where he received a Master of Divinity degree. A Ball State University Hall of Fame Quarterback, Dave served the Detroit Lions as Chaplain for thirty-three years. Ann attended the University of Kentucky. She has been active with Dave in ministry as a speaker, writer, small group leader, and mentor to countless women.

The Wilsons live in the Detroit area. They have three grown sons, CJ, Austin, and Cody, three daughters-in-law, and a growing number of grandchildren.
