Trial Lesson 1: Faith
Trial Lesson 1: Faith
John MacArthur: This is John MacArthur inviting you to join me for Portraits of Grace. Perhaps the severest trial anyone has ever faced is what Abraham endured when God told him to offer his son Isaac as a burnt offering. From Abraham's perspective, the whole idea seemed contrary to God's nature, and it was made even more difficult because God commanded Abraham himself to kill Isaac.
Yet Abraham didn't second-guess God; he obeyed immediately and displayed the confidence that he and Isaac would return and that God would supply a lamb for the offering. And God did just that. He spared Abraham from having to kill Isaac. Abraham even believed that if he had killed Isaac, God would have raised him from the dead.
How would you have responded? Can you trust God for every test like that? That's how a portrait of grace should be: confident in every trial of God's good purpose.
