Luke tells us there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. And the writer of Hebrews says that without faith it is impossible to please God. That's the negative side of a positive principle. When you do believe in God, He is pleased.

Prayer and righteous living are two more ways because the prayer of the upright is God's delight, as are those who walk blamelessly before Him. Repentance, faith, prayer, righteous living: all bring joy to God. Because they are expressions of love and they honor His word, and that pleases Him most.
