Jesus’ Humble Identification with Sinners
Jesus’ Humble Identification with Sinners
John MacArthur: This is John MacArthur with another edition of Portraits of Grace. When Jesus came to earth, he didn't come as some superman. Instead, he came as a man who hungered, thirsted, hurt, cried, and died. And the Bible says he emptied himself, taking the form of a bondservant and being made in the likeness of men.
You see, Jesus could understand what people around him were dealing with because he lived under the same conditions. That's why he can identify with us today. He knows firsthand about our physical and emotional needs because he actually experienced them.
But there's one element of our world he didn't participate in: sin. Hebrews 4:15 says he was tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Even though Jesus never sinned, he knows the struggles and temptations you face daily. So thank God that Jesus can identify with your struggles to help you become Portraits of Grace.
