Izmir is a city in present-day Turkey. But 2,000 years ago, that city was called Smyrna. It was one of the seven churches Jesus spoke of in the book of Revelation. Jesus tells the church at Smyrna, “I know your afflictions and your poverty, yet you are rich!” These are words we must heed in our day of affluence and ease.

The First Songs Of Christmas
Request Yours
Many Christmas songs are nostalgic melodies that evoke memories of the season and warm our hearts. But the original Christmas songs of Elizabeth, Mary, Zechariah, the angels, and Simeon recapture the wonder of Jesus' birth. These songs recorded in Luke 1–2 unfold God’s redemptive plan and reveal the greatness and glory of our Savior. In this 31-day Advent devotional, Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth offers meditations on these songs. Your heart will be encouraged and warmed as you reflect on the joy Jesus brought to the world when He was born in Bethlehem.
