“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” These words of Jesus in Revelation 2 were directed to the church at Thyatira. So what can we learn from this church? For starters, we can learn about our personal holiness and how well we distance ourselves from those who flaunt their immorality. In today’s message, we’ll find stern words from the Lord about this church, and by implication, our own churches.

Pergamum was a city in ancient Asia Minor in an area now known as Turkey. Today, its giant pagan altar is on display in the Pergamum Museum in Berlin. In Revelation 2, Jesus said that Pergamum was the place “where Satan dwells,” and a place rife with false teaching. Let’s listen to what the Lord Himself says about that church, and what lessons we can take home for our own churches.

Izmir is a city in present-day Turkey. But 2,000 years ago, that city was called Smyrna. It was one of the seven churches Jesus spoke of in the book of Revelation. Jesus tells the church at Smyrna, “I know your afflictions and your poverty, yet you are rich!” These are words we must heed in our day of affluence and ease.

In it we learn that Jesus will one day return to Earth in power and glory. We also find words from Jesus to seven churches of the First Century.

Sooner or later, the government will tell us to do something that as Christians, we can’t do. Or they’ll prohibit us from doing things we must do. While we have a clear obligation to both church and state, how do we handle the conflicts that inevitably arise? Today we’ll reveal some light for the dark days that may be ahead.

Just as no two snowflakes are alike, no two people are alike. We’re all different, and that diversity adds a richness to life. But it also adds a set of problems. When two people don’t get along, even two Christians, what do you do? Today we’ll discuss a solution for those difficult people in life.

From the outside looking in, the Christian church is very divided. Besides Catholic and Orthodox churches, there are more denominations of Protestants emerging every day, leading one to wonder: who has the correct doctrine? In today’s message, we’ll learn how we can discern truth from error, and make wise choices on where to worship.

When Christians stand for truth in a pluralistic culture, conflict is inevitable. Increasingly, that conflict is with our own government. Today, Dr. Erwin Lutzer begins a series on "Christians in Conflict," and how we should live in view of these ever-growing conflicts.

Why is it that so many kids who go to church, Sunday schools, camps, Christian schools, and pray the “right prayers” still walk away from their faith? Pastor Lutzer suggests that they may have never really been converted by God. Perhaps part of the reason why this happens lies in the fact that parents, and even some churches, have an inadequate view of conversion.
