There are many ways you can be mired in darkness: philosophically, morally, or even spiritually. An old Jewish man had served in the temple in Jerusalem all his life. Yet when he met the child Jesus, he knew he was witnessing the hope not only of his nation but also for all the nations: a light has come. This light would not only expose your sins but also heal your sinfulness. When you come to the light, you, like Simeon, can live and die in peace.
