Finding God in a Tight Place

November 11, 2012
Very few people have an easy road through life. Most, if not all of us, will face calamities we never expected. When these times come, our normal resources are not enough to sustain us. We are tempted to ask whether God can be trusted to see us through life’s tough times. Often, it’s only after the storm passes that we can see God’s hand in the trials we’ve endured.

Someone has said, “Life’s not a bed of roses.” Indeed, even roses have their thorns, and life, for all too many of us, is hard. The pressures are numerous: physical, economic, relational, and even spiritual. They can even make us doubt that God cares for us. But we’re not promised an easy pathway. Even as Jesus walked a road of suffering, we too are called to rely on God for sustaining grace through times of trial and deprivation.

There’s little doubt that evil is on the rise. The evidence of satanic influence is everywhere with the increase in mass murders, corruption in high places, and violence in the streets. A breakdown in society begins with the breakdown of the family — opening up doors for Satan to control our lives and our society. On this broadcast: a teaching from the Word of God that can help all who listen find release from any influence Satan may try to have in their lives.

The mission of Jesus was clear: He came to rebuild the soul and minister to the brokenhearted. In today’s world, the family is clearly on life support — even within the church. Broken marriages make it tough for kids to grow up in a supportive environment. Even worse, children fall prey to sexual abuse from relatives or acquaintances. But there is help. Today, a message to the abused from God’s Word: you don’t have to stay where you are; you don’t have to live with shame.

Rewriting the story of your life can be done. Millions of people — men, women, children — are trying to handle the guilt and shame of sexual abuse on their own. But there is a better way to be free from the emotional bondage you may be dealing with. Today: help from God’s Word on how to triumph over the pain of your past.

The government throws billions of dollars at problems that money can’t solve. Despite the Great Society, the poor are more numerous than ever. Despite massive education funding, people seem to know less than ever. There is no doubt people need transforming, but only God can do that. This message will show how the glory of God can change people from darkness to light.

One of the oldest books in the Bible asks a question that is as modern as tomorrow. In Job 14:14 we read: “If a man dies, shall he live again?” It’s not about riches or fame, success or failure. The deepest issue of life is what happens once it is over. Let’s learn how the glory of God makes it possible for us to face death with triumph.

Hurting is part of life. Ask anyone in a cancer ward, facing a painful end of life with an incurable tumor. No one is exempt from suffering. Sooner or later, we all experience it. But believers are promised that suffering for the sake of Jesus will be rewarded. Today, another lesson on why nothing else matters but the glory of God — especially when we’re in pain.
