Imagine you’ve gone through incredible personal loss in the midst of a nation-wide famine. That’s what happened to two widows in Scripture: Naomi and Ruth. Even if you can only see the immediate crisis, God is working during such times. In this message, you’ll see God moving forward with His plan of redemption in the four chapters of the book of Ruth. You’ll discover the lasting value of family, community, and the opportunity to witness to a watching world. Even in your darkest days, God is still there, and He’s still in control.

Where do you turn when hardship hits? When God wants to deepen your spiritual maturity, He sometimes takes away all the comforts to which you’re accustomed. It’s possible for God to lead His people into the wilderness. That’s what happened to Abraham. In this message, you’ll journey with him through an unexpected famine to face his doubts and failures. In fact, every “famine” you go through tests your trust in God.

The days ahead may well be days of more uncertainty and financial instability. How do you handle deprivation when all you’ve known is abundance? In this message, Pastor Lutzer compares the 3 kinds of judgments in the book of Jeremiah to what is happening in the U.S. today—moral, economic, and religious. You were born in these times to prove God’s faithfulness in the midst of a nation that is under judgment. He’s the One you can trust.

It’s time; time to turn your burdens and your troubled conscience over to the only worthy King. Two thousand years ago, at just the right time, a procession of Magi from the east came to Jerusalem in search of a new King of the Jews. It was prophesied long ago that Jesus would be King, our King came with humility, victory, and authority. As we still await the fullness of His reign in the coming Millennium, you’ll learn to lay your daily troubles and pains down before the King of Kings.

There are many ways you can be mired in darkness: philosophically, morally, or even spiritually. An old Jewish man had served in the temple in Jerusalem all his life. Yet when he met the child Jesus, he knew he was witnessing the hope not only of his nation but also for all the nations: a light has come. This light would not only expose your sins but also heal your sinfulness. When you come to the light, you, like Simeon, can live and die in peace.

No one is exempt from the need for the Savior. On the night of the first Christmas, the night sky over Bethlehem was suddenly ablaze with light. A host of angels appeared, announcing that Jesus is the Savior, Christ the Lord. When you heed the Good News of the angels, it confronts the deception of your own heart to count on your own goodness. If you consider how good God is, it will rattle your conception of how good you are. There’s only one Savior qualified to save you. Imagine what a difference the “good news of great joy” will have in your own life!

In a world of increasing chaos, people yearn to hold onto what is sure. The Christmas season reminds us that Jesus was born in Bethlehem to save the world. His entrance was announced through an angel to a young Jewish maiden over two thousand years ago. But you may have experienced a cynicism in yourself or others about the claim that Jesus is the “Son of God.” Yet even Jesus Himself claimed this unique and lofty title. In this message, you’ll unpack the phrase that gives the world a sure hope.

Are you confused by all the various perspectives on the end times? One book in the Bible promises a blessing to all who read it—the Book of Revelation. Rich in symbolism, it portrays the future yet to be: the glorious return of Jesus, the resurrection of the dead, the judgment of God, the Millennial reign, and finally, the eternity which follows. This book leaves no middle ground—and what you decide about Christ in this life will determine what your final destination will be.

Do you ever wonder where God is when he seems silent? Following 400 years of silence, Jesus Christ bursts onto the scene in the first century. In this survey of the New Testament, Pastor Lutzer reminds you why it begins with the genealogy of Christ, how Jesus fulfills the Old Testament, and how the Lord always keeps his promises. Christ’s death and resurrection brings all who believe in him back to God. No playwright could dream of a story so bold, so loving, and so wonderful.

Do you sometimes feel like God is far off, disengaged from your life in this world? Throughout the Old Testament, the Israelites experienced periods where God seemed far away, even as the temple that represented his presence was destroyed. In this message, you’ll see how God disciplines His people, and even scatters them. All this fits together to give us a big-picture view of God’s work in world history and your life.

Have you ever started to read your Bible from the beginning, only to get stuck in Leviticus? In this whirlwind tour of the first half of the Old Testament, Pastor Lutzer unveils the overarching narrative of the Scriptures and how you are part of God’s story. Imagine Earth as a grand stage where a very real drama is played out. In this message, you’ll come face to face with the seriousness of sin and catch a glimpse of God’s plan to rescue.
