In ancient Israel, false prophets put lies about God into the minds of the people. The same is true in our day. These false teachers minimize God’s holiness, and exaggerate their own goodness to hide their real motives. We must learn to recognize the lies.

God allowed Babylon to take Israel captive after the people turned to idolatry. God won’t tolerate endless disobedience from His people—He didn’t then, and He won’t today. God judges a people who call darkness light, and light darkness.

After a long period of nation-wide disobedience, God judged Israel by allowing Babylon to carry them off into captivity. They became a minority in a pagan land, just as Christians are fast becoming a minority in America today. The parallels are crucial to understand.

God said: “Be holy, for I am holy.” Some people think holiness is joylessness. In fact, the opposite is true: we find our joy in being set apart for God.
