Christ: The Gift Of Peace

Things and circumstances can give us happiness, but only an inner wellspring can bring forth joy. Joy can be felt in the midst of tragedy and loss; yes, joy can be experienced through tears. And joy is what Christ came to bring to all those who would believe in Him.

As Christmas approaches, stores are hoping you and I will give in to the urge to give gifts. Certainly, Christ was the Great Gift God gave to the world. During December, Dr. Lutzer will speak about four ways in which that Gift was given. And today, he will depart from the norm by explaining why Christ was the Gift of Justice.

There is no question that the moral fabric of our culture is disintegrating. Marriage is under attack as same-sex partners demand the rights that have always been accorded to heterosexuals. The gay rights agenda is changing our school curriculums and is now a major factor in our national political debate. How should believers deal with this? To find out, stay tuned.

Back in Jesus' day, religious people left an injured man by the road, lest they be contaminated. Only a Good Samaritan tended the man's wounds...this despite the fact that Samaritans were despised as second-class citizens. Sadly, discrimination and racial hatred is still with us, even among the people of God. Today: a no-nonsense challenge from the book of Micah to point us away from injustice and oppression.

The Christian faith is one of hope. Despite today's trials and tribulations, there is a certain tomorrow in which Jesus will reign supreme with His church at His side. This prospect brings light into every dark hour we now experience. Yes, there is a better day coming...stay with us as we look forward to it.

Although we have given names like Baptist, Methodist and Presbyterian to the church, to God, the church is "the bride of Christ." It is an assembly of believers called out from the world to bear witness to God's grace and mercy. The church has a glorious future, and it is called to be blameless as it awaits that "marriage supper of the Lamb." To better understand the church, both local and universal, stay with us.

Untold eons ago, God's chief angel rebelled taking a third of the heavenly host with him. Though his doom is certain, Satan's rebellion is far from over since he and his legions now seek to draw you and I into rebelling as they did. The devil: who is he, why did he rebel and how should believers treat him? For the answers: stay with us.

To most people, angels play harps and fly with wings. But in the Bible, the word "angel" is really "messenger," and they have serious duties to perform for God and for the people of God. Want to know more about angels? If so, stay with us.

The word simply means "good news," and for sinners, the Gospel is indeed good news. To talk about the Gospel is to talk about salvation: our need for it, and God's provision to make it possible. Today: we will explore what salvation is all about, and how you can personally receive it.

The prophet Habakkuk wrote, "O Lord, your eyes are too pure to look upon evil, you cannot tolerate wrong." Sin: it is such an affront to a holy God that He provided redemption at the price of His own Son's life. Yet, all too many Christians tolerate the sin that God cannot tolerate. Today, we will find out why.
