The Secret to Contentment Part 2

February 15, 2021

When our neighbor drives up with a shiny new car, or a friend purchases the home of our dreams by the beach, there can be that tendency within us to want what they have.  And become dissatisfied with what we have.  But today on Light on the Hill, pastor James Kaddis encourages us toward contentment in Christ.  Not only do we have every reason in the world to be content, but grateful as well!

Maybe you’ve really blown it recently, or have a sin-stained past that you’re ashamed of.  We all make mistakes, but I’m glad to say we have a God that extends His gracious hand and can restore any human life.   We’ll show you the way back to God when you’re in a backslidden state today on Light on the Hill, through a study of Jeremiah chapter three.

Would you say that you’re content? Most people would answer that question based on whether or not life is going good and smoothly by their own definition. But as we draw from the life of Paul on today’s edition of Light on the Hill we will learn how to be content and thankful even in the worst conditions.

In Philippians chapter four we’re given a list of things we should be meditating upon.  The first of which is things that are true, and we looked at that last time.  Closely related to that are things that are honest.  Listen in and see what that's all about.

You’ve probably noticed it’s a real battle in the world as we know it. The more you live for Christ, the more you recognize that.  But God doesn’t ask us to fight alone.  Not only will He be with us, and fight for us, but He also wants us to lean on each other and be yoked together. Today on Light on the Hill pastor James Kaddis opens Philippians chapter four, and we’ll learn what this means for you and me, and what it is to look like in our daily lives.

Few things in life are more hurtful and devastating than having a spouse that cheats on you.  But maybe you didn’t realize, many are doing that very thing to God.  When we worship a false god, it’s very much like cheating on Him.  But even when you do, there’s hope and grace to be found.  He’ll welcome us back with open arms if we’ll repent and turn to Him.  That’s the picture we receive in Jeremiah chapter three.

Disagreements and disputes… they happen all the time.  We see it on social media, within the family, and even in the church!  And if we’re not careful it can even lead to division!  Today on Light on the Hill we’ll be introduced to a couple of ladies that weren’t getting along, and the apostle Paul needed to step in to help.  It can serve to help us the next time we’re finding it hard to get along.

A Citizen is one who owes loyalty to and entitled by birth or naturalization to the protection of a state or nation.  In Philippians three, verse twenty, Paul said, “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ”. Today on Light on the Hill, Pastor James Kaddis will have us consider the impact that our heavenly citizenship should have on our daily lives.

Good examples are hard to find in today’s world, sad to say.  But we find an excellent example of what it means to follow Christ, and having the mind of Christ, in the apostle Paul!  And today on Light on the Hill we’ll be encouraged to be that sort of example to those around us.
