God's Track Record is Perfect Part 1

April 8, 2020

Let’s face it we don’t have a very good track record.  We’ve failed and sinned more times than we can count. But God isn’t that way.  He has a perfect track record and is always faithful. It’s a good idea to rehearse that from time to time, which is what we’ll do today on Light on the Hill.

Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed, as you’re in the midst of a very difficult season of life.  Psalm 61 was written with you in mind.  And even if that doesn’t describe you now, it’s a safe bet you’ll be there one day.

When someone cuts you off on the freeway, or takes something that belongs to you… is your first thought to retaliate?   Today on Light on the Hill we’ll hear a much better course of action, and that is to leave it with the Lord.

How are things going for you right now friend?  Perhaps you’d say, it’s a very difficult time.  That’s where we find David, in the Psalm we’ll read about today on Light on the Hill.  He’s fleeing from Saul in a cave.  But it’s interesting to notice, how he reacts.  He takes refuge in the Lord, and remains close to Him!  That’s the best place to be, at such times.

Few things in life are more painful than having a close friend betray us.  And when it happens it’s tempting to turn bitter and retaliate.  But as we’ll see today on Light on the Hill that only makes matters worse.  Pastor James Kaddis will draw our attention to a period in King David’s life when he was betrayed by a friend.  Through it all we’ll learn that it’s best to leave vengeance with the Lord.

Romans 3:23 declares we’ve all sinned!  So it’s vitally important to know how do we deal appropriately with it when we do?  We’ll learn from Psalm 51 of the importance of confessing it, and being broken and contrite before the Lord.  God loves to forgive us as we do.

Have you noticed, some of the hardest words for mankind to say are, “I’m wrong!”  When we blow it, and we all do, it’s important to confess our sin to God and come clean before Him. When we do, He’s willing and able to forgive us.  Psalm 51 is a brilliant reminder of that, and we’ll give our attention to it today on Light on the Hill.

Think for a minute about the most beautiful place you’ve ever seen on earth.  As wonderful as those places are, it doesn't compare to the City of God we’ll read about in Psalm 48.  And if you are a believer, you’re going to be apart of it, and actually rule and reign there.

It seems like every time we turn on the news, we’re confronted with something disturbing and a reminder that we live in a dangerous world.  In today’s Psalm we find that God is our refuge and strength in a dangerous world like this.
