Galatians 1:10-24 Part 1

January 24, 2020

In Galatians chapter one we run across the Apostle Paul’s testimony.  We’ll notice who he was before he was saved, and can’t help but see the big difference after God got a hold of his life.

When you read a book, perhaps you tend to skip right over the introduction or forward, and get right to the meat of the text!  But when you read Galatians, it’s a good idea to pause and really consider what the greeting from the author has to say to us.  And as you’ll see today on Light on the Hill, there’s much we can glean from it.

Today we open our Bibles to Galatians chapter one.  Having already introduced the epistle earlier this week, we’ll now go through each chapter and verse with you.  Along the way you’ll notice Paul’s personal testimony, a wonderful defense of God’s grace, and then see how that grace can and should be applied to our lives.

It’s by grace that we are saved, apart from works!  That’s one of many lessons in front of us today on Light on the Hill as pastor James Kaddis continues his introduction of Galatians.

Today we’ll be finishing Second Corinthians, as we look at perhaps the most important question we could ask ourselves, "Am I really saved?" Christians have struggled with that through the years.  But there are also a good number of people today who go to church, think they’re saved, and in reality aren’t!  So how can we know for sure where we stand? Let’s turn to Second Corinthians thirteen and find out!

Matthew 5:14 says, “You are the light of the world.  A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” It’s with that in mind that we come to you each day here on Light on the Hill.  Pastor James Kaddis leads us through the Scriptures  verse by verse, and we’re at the tail-end of his study in Second Corinthians.

Have you ever loved someone very deeply, poured your heart and soul into their life, and have that met with ingratitude, or not have them love you in return?  It’s an all too common experience and can be very hurtful and disheartening.  You might be surprised to find out that the apostle Paul experienced this too.  As we’ll see today in our study of Second Corinthians twelve the more he loved, the less he was loved in return.

The world around us values the strong and mighty!  But today on Light on the Hill we learn God thinks much differently than our culture. In His Kingdom, it’s when we’re weak that we become strong!  The way up, is down.  That may sound a little strange to you, and if so join, us as pastor James Kaddis helps us understand this paradox.

Have you ever had a painful illness or infirmity and asked God to remove it… but He doesn’t!  It’s at those times we might be confused or even discouraged. But when you come to realize God has a purpose and plan behind it all, that’s makes all the difference.  And we see that in the life of the apostle Paul.

Imagine being taken up into heaven for a look around, and then when you return, you’re told not to tell anyone about it!  That’s what the apostle Paul experienced, and we’ll read about it in Second Corinthians twelve.
