A Revived Roman Empire, Part 1

As we get back into Daniel chapter two, remember King Nebuchadnezzar has just had a disturbing dream. And he’s wondering what it all means! Daniel is about to come along with the interpretation, and in so doing reveals a general timeline for all of history, near and far! Including a revived Roman empire that will consist of 10 nations!

When we’re hurt deeply by the words or actions of another, we have a choice to make. We can turn bitter and angry, and many do! Or we can be like Daniel, and stay focused on the Lord, refusing to compromise! Today on Light on the Hill, we spotlight Daniel chapter one, and verses 9-21. As a young man Daniel was stripped from his own home and family, but refused to be bitter about it. Pastor James Kaddis has noticed a few things in this response to adversity!

I’m told a rattlesnake, if cornered, will sometimes become so angry it will bite itself. And isn’t that just so reminiscent of mankind? When wronged, some will turn bitter and angry. In essence, hurting themselves! Today on Light on the Hill pastor James opens Daniel chapter one, and shows us how to break free of bitterness, with eyes fixed on Jesus.

Today on Light on the Hill we open Daniel chapter one with pastor James Kaddis. And we’ll notice Daniel settled in his heart that he wasn't going to allow anything to get in the way of God's purpose for him. And pastor James Kaddis believes that's the sort of determination we need to carry through life.

Daniel was a Christian young man who took a stand for God, and determined not to be defiled, under intense pressure to say the least. In addition to being a man of commitment, he was also in the Word and in prayer on a regular basis. Pastor James Kaddis believes that’s the sort of people we’re to be in these last days. Today on Light on the Hill we begin our verse by verse study of Daniel and notice that Daniel faced his fair share of adversity. But he didn’t become bitter as a result.

One leads to life and the other to destruction. Pastor James believes this also applies to the political realm. You see, just because the majority feels a particular way, doesn’t mean it’s right, or what we should do!
