In First Corinthians eleven the subject of head coverings comes up. There were some women in the church at
Corinth who chose not to wear head coverings and this caused quite a stir. Here we are centuries later and obviously that’s no longer a cultural norm. So do we toss this passage out thinking it no longer applies? Actually pastor James Kaddis says it has something very important to say to us.

The Jewish customs in the apostle Paul’s day were quite a bit different than what we find in today’s culture. For example, they couldn’t uncover their heads in public because it was dishonoring to their husband. Tucked within this are some lessons which are timeless. Pastor James Kaddis will point out the divine order that God has set into place in the church, and is quick to point out that this doesn’t imply that women are inferior or less capable than men.

As believers, we know that we have an incredible amount of freedom. But, there are some things that while they may be permissible, have the potential to stumble a brother or sister in the Lord or even mislead an unbeliever! The apostle Paul said that all things are permissible, but not all things are helpful. Today on Light on the Hill we’re urged to keep our focus on the glory of God. And pastor James Kaddis says just as Paul had some limitations on his liberties, so too should we.
