The Bible advises us not to get drunk because when we’re full of alcohol, our emotions and physical wellbeing are dominated and controlled by that substance. Instead, God’s Word directs us to be “soaked” with the Spirit, who guides us to do the right things and act in a way that honors God. In this message, Dr. Stanley explains the difference between being baptized by the Spirit, indwelt by the Spirit, and filled with the Spirit.

When we walk in the light of Christ, we share a spirit of love that forgives and exposes the works of darkness. Only then will people see the danger they’re in and turn to the One who can ignite a fire of redemption in their own lives.

Our God is a God of love. He cares for us unconditionally and sacrificially and expresses His love by always doing what is best for us. Unfortunately, the world offers a counterfeit type of love. Instead of coming from a genuine care for others, it is characterized by selfishness and is destructive to those who indulge in it.

The apostle Paul was someone who was very hostile to Christians before his conversion. He arrested, tortured and had people murdered. Yet the grace of God was still extended to him. Maybe you don't think that God can forgive you for your past. In Grace on Display, Dr. Stanley uses the life of Paul to illustrate how God's grace is available to all, no matter what they have done.

Our tongues have the power to build people up or tear them down. They can create great joy, happiness, peace, confidence and assurance for others—or they can absolutely destroy all possibility of those things in a matter of moments.

Living the Christian life is a two-way street. While God always keeps his side of the bargain, we must choose to obey Him daily. It begins when we respond by faith to God’s offer of salvation and the Lord spiritually crucifies, buries and raises us to walk in newness of life, sealing us with the Holy Spirit of promise. This is something that can never be taken away or lost

Before a person turns his life over to Christ, his heart is hardened to sin. He satisfies his needs the only way he knows how—through selfish, sinful means. But once he surrenders to God, he becomes sensitive to sin. His old life doesn’t fit any longer because he has the Holy Spirit living within him.
