Sustaining Grace, Part 1

November 21, 2017

What's so amazing about grace? In "Sustaining Grace," Dr. Stanley explains that the grace of God not only takes care of our sin through the cross, but it takes care of our daily lives as well. Grace enables us to face life as it is with absolute confidence that God is watching over us, caring for us, and enabling us in every circumstance of life.

The heart is an amazing part of God's creation. It is at the center of all that goes on in our bodies. Like our physical heart, the heart that the Bible talks about is the center of our emotion, our passions, and our attitudes. It affects every aspect of our lives.

The apostle Paul was someone who was very hostile to Christians before his conversion. He arrested, tortured and had people murdered. Yet the grace of God was still extended to him. Maybe you don't think that God can forgive you for your past. In "Grace on Display," Dr. Stanley uses the life of Paul to illustrate how God's grace is available to all, no matter what we have done.

What is the first thought that comes to mind when you hear the name of God? Is it father, judge, guilt, fear? It's very important that we understand who God is for the simple reason that if we don't, we will have no real basis for peace, joy, and happiness in life. In "Our God of Grace," Dr. Stanley explains that it isn't enough to just believe there is a God, but that we must know Him on an intimate level.

Learn how the Holy Spirit is carrying out God’s plan to transform you into His Son’s perfect image. Dr. Stanley explains how an abundant life is possible only when we recognize all that our Savior did for us at Calvary. The message of the cross is that God redeems us from our sins and delivers us from what we were before we met Jesus Christ. God expressed His unconditional love for us at the cross not because of what He sees within us, but because it is His nature to love.

Many people try to escape their anxious feelings with medications, drugs, alcohol, sex, gambling, or anything that brings relief. But none of these methods are truly effective. The ultimate solution only comes from God, and He’s freely provided it to every one of His children.

Just like the changing seasons, Christians experience periods of growth and fruitfulness, while other stages are more quiet and reflective. Dr. Stanley teaches that the one constant during times of change is the Lord's incredible faithfulness.
