November 19, 2020

When we are facing a crucial decision and are seeking the Lord's direction and guidance, we want to be sure we are hearing from Him correctly. Peace will follow if we've heard the voice of God and commit to obey Him. These things are not learned overnight. They take time and a heart that is constantly seeking the Lord. Stay faithful—the Lord will honor those who listen and obey Him.

We know God clearly speaks to us through His Word, the Holy Spirit, our circumstances, and other people. He does this so we will understand the truth and be conformed to it and share it with others. Be sure you're listening to God by accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior, reading His Word, and fellowshipping with a church that teaches the truth of Scripture. Also, evaluate your life often to be sure you are constantly listening to God.

The Lord is not vague. When He speaks to us, He always has something very specific to share, and He doesn't hesitate or waver in His communication. God speaks to us through His Word, the Holy Spirit, our circumstances, and other people. We can either listen to Him passively—without intending to change—or we can listen aggressively, ready to apply truth to our lives and be conformed by it.

What is necessary to truly praise and worship God? Can someone just show up at a church and start praising and worshipping God? In this message, Dr. Stanley explains that, oftentimes, we make a lot of preparation to attend church but don't prepare to truly praise the living God. Don't pay 'lip service' to God anymore. Learn to worship Him in spirit and truth.

Learning to listen to God is one of the most essential parts of the Christian life. Our God is not a speechless God; He desires both to hear us and be heard by us. If we want to hear from God, we need to set aside time to be alone with Him. We also need to obey His Word so we can stand before Him with clean, pure hearts, ready and willing to listen to His loving guidance.

Praise is not something new. It is not man made. It is not some theological strain or denominational hand me down. It is a command of the Word of God. In this message, we learn that we, as believers, are to proclaim God's excellence because we are no longer in darkness but have been called into His marvelous light.
