Healing Our Hurts

March 21, 2018

Stepping barefoot on a nail would cause piercing pain, as would having that same nail removed. But would you ignore the nail to save yourself the pain of extraction? Not unless you want a gangrenous infection. The choice is obvious when it comes to our physical health. Yet most of us are guilty of burying emotional wounds, allowing them to fester into full-blown bitterness.

In this message, Dr. Stanley exhorts us to examine those tender places. Yes, it can be painful to do so, but it is ultimately worth it. Find courage to face your wounds and experience God’s healing touch.

Blood belongs inside the body, coursing through veins and pumping through the heart. When blood is outside the body, it's a sign that something has gone horribly wrong.  Unless that body belongs to Jesus. In this message, Dr. Stanley proclaims the irreplaceable, holy sufficiency of the blood Christ shed for us on the cross. It may be uncomfortable to contemplate, but without the blood of Jesus there is no redemption, reconciliation, or salvation. There is no Christianity.  The blood of Jesus belongs inside His body, the Church. Discover the priceless gift He gave us and why we have nothing without it, but everything because of it.

But the truth is that obedience to God brings blessings and a fruitful life of joy and peace. In this message, Dr. Stanley talks about the benefits of following the Lord. God wants to show us His love, power, and grace. But we must first be willing to trust His guiding hand. Don't spend your life wondering what God would have done if you would have obeyed Him. Jesus said that if we loved Him, we would keep His commandments (John 14:15). He didn't say we would go to church, read the Bible, or do good deeds. We would obey Him. Our obedience is a direct reflection of our love for God.   Christ paid the price for our sins on the cross, so let us not take His great sacrifice for granted. Instead, let us commit to obeying Him at every opportunity.
