The Grace of Graces, Part 1

March 5, 2024
Soul rest and recreation are fruits of humility. When we adopt humility and meekness as our standard, our soul finds supernatural rest. There is an internal peace. Humility bruies matters, covers sin, restores and does not condemn. The humble person pays no attention to self, while the prideful knows nothing but self. Relax in the plan that God has for you - don't fight it. When we always try to get our way - no peace.

When we surrender our life to God, we take the life God has given to us and give it back to Him. Surrender is our abandonment to redemption, which is difficult because it requires self-surrender first. It is not giving up any one thing - it is giving up self, and placing ourselves in God's care. It is an unending desire for fellowship with Him.

There is a fork in the road, and we must choose a path. One will be comfortable, predictable and manageable. The other will stretch us, humble us and break our comfort zone. That is the path that will put you into an adventure with God you could not scheme up yourself. Make the choice for fervency and let God take you to a place you would not normally go. Now is the time.

The grace of God makes no guarantees on how life will play out. In fact, the work of grace is always inward before it can affect the outward. Sometimes it seems as though God has let us down and all of His promises are not "yea and amen." But know this - God's grace never wastes the human experience. I have never forgotten one lesson God has taught me in the dark night of my soul. I have never forgotten those things I learned in tears. They are written on my soul forever.

Webster's defines identification as "the act of making or proving to be the same." It is synonymous with having an "exchanged life" or being "In Christ". It is the essense of transformation. Identification requires yielding yourself to God and giving up control of your life. As long as you are hanging onto your own agenda, you will have no exchanged life. Align your life with His - transformation.

About Tim Kelley

Tim Kelley, at the age of 18, surrendered his life and heart to Jesus Christ. After receiving his degree in Biblical Studies, he relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida. In July of 1989 he became the senior pastor of Grace Connection Church and launched a local radio broadcast called “Grace Thoughts”, a daily radio program broadcast in the Tampa Bay region http://wtis1110.com/ and is now heard at www.oneplace.com. Pastor Kelley is now in his 33th year in public ministry here in the Tampa Bay area. He is an avid sports fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and the Boston Celtics. As you may have guessed, our pastor grew up in New England in the Plymouth Mass. area. Pastor Kelley’s two greatest and heartfelt passions are teaching and preaching a clear gospel of God’s grace and its impact in our daily lives, as well as his love and compassion for people (even if they are not New England Fans).  Pastor Kelley has a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies and is currently pursuing a second Masters in Counseling, graduating in May 2013.  He is happily married to his beautiful wife of 27 years, Peggy. They have one child at home, Sadie Lynne.  Their beautiful daughter Hannah Grace, in February 2012, went home to be with the Lord, due to a firearm mishap after a church service. Pastor Kelley and Peggy have started the Hannah Grace Foundation in memory of their daughter, which raises funds for the housing, care and education of children and young adults, here locally in the Tampa Bay region, throughout America as well as the third world.
