Tim Kelley

Service and Stewardship, Part 3

November 14, 2023
Our salvation was never intended to be static. It is a force intended not only to take a sinner to heaven by giving them Christ's righteousness, but also to make him more like Christ now - in this life. We are stewards - not owners - of all that Christ has given us. When giving is seen as a discipline, there is a void when it is not practiced. The disciplines are designed to bring you to your full spiritual potential, which in turn will bring Christianity to the world.

The Bible is very clear about the need to pray - and the exhortation to do so. There is no clearer model or example of true Godly prayer than the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6. Emmet Fox said of this prayer, "Christ designed His prayer in such a way that it would pass safely through the ages without being tampered with. He arranged it with consummate skill so that it could not be twisted or distorted, or adapted to any man made system." Join us as we "Dig Deeper" into this prayer.

1 Peter 2:4-6 is a classic passage speaking of Christ and the Body of Christ. Peter writes this much later in his life - after having gained much wisdon. He speaks of Jesus being the "living stone" - and because we are "in Christ" we are also the living stones. We are part of a spiritual house. And then he switches the analogy from the spiritual temple to the priesthood that would serve in that temple, through sacrifices and offerings. What are these spiritual sacrifices that I offer to God as a New Testament Priest?

If my Christianity is to have an impact, I must have a real relationship with my Bible. How is your relationship with your Bible? Is there one? Is it indifferent? Mechanical? A relationship will be as intimate as to the degree I VALUE that relationship. If my goal is to be Christ-like, my Bible will be my most valuable asset. Don't leave it on the shelf between Sundays - read it! And watch your life change.

About Tim Kelley

Tim Kelley, at the age of 18, surrendered his life and heart to Jesus Christ. After receiving his degree in Biblical Studies, he relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida. In July of 1989 he became the senior pastor of Grace Connection Church and launched a local radio broadcast called “Grace Thoughts”, a daily radio program broadcast in the Tampa Bay region http://wtis1110.com/ and is now heard at www.oneplace.com. Pastor Kelley is now in his 33th year in public ministry here in the Tampa Bay area. He is an avid sports fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and the Boston Celtics. As you may have guessed, our pastor grew up in New England in the Plymouth Mass. area. Pastor Kelley’s two greatest and heartfelt passions are teaching and preaching a clear gospel of God’s grace and its impact in our daily lives, as well as his love and compassion for people (even if they are not New England Fans).  Pastor Kelley has a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies and is currently pursuing a second Masters in Counseling, graduating in May 2013.  He is happily married to his beautiful wife of 27 years, Peggy. They have one child at home, Sadie Lynne.  Their beautiful daughter Hannah Grace, in February 2012, went home to be with the Lord, due to a firearm mishap after a church service. Pastor Kelley and Peggy have started the Hannah Grace Foundation in memory of their daughter, which raises funds for the housing, care and education of children and young adults, here locally in the Tampa Bay region, throughout America as well as the third world.
