Go Do Something!
Pastor Dr. Herbert Ward, Sr.: Our sermon lesson today is: Go Do Something. Have you ever been in a position where there was something needed to be done? Let's say in your house. That garbage needed to be taken out. Everybody sees it, but nobody wants to take the garbage out. A day has passed and now the garbage is speaking. It is speaking and telling you to take me out of here. But nobody wants to go do something and take the smell out of the house.
Naturally, that is how we are. We sometimes do not want to do anything until it is just about too late. We wait and we wait, and some of us hope somebody else will do something. I am here to tell you today that God is telling you to go do something. You go do something. We have so much going on in this country and so many people are complaining. I am tired of hearing the problem. We know what the problem is. It is sitting right in there. What are you going to do about it? Go do something.
James Brown wrote a song years ago. "I don't want nobody to give me nothing." The song continues and says, "Open up the door, and I'll get it myself." When he did that "huh," that is like when you have someone put you down. You say "huh," that is what you think. That is what he is saying in that song. He is saying, "Open up the door, I'll get it myself. I don't need your help. All I need you to do is open the door. Stop closing the door on my feet and I will get it myself. I am not asking you to do anything for me that I would not do for you."
He goes on in the song and makes a very powerful statement. He says, "I'd rather die standing on my feet than to die begging on my knees." What is he saying here? He is saying he would rather die trying to be something and never give up than to give up and beg people to help him. I am capable of taking care of myself. I have confidence in whom God made me to be. I do not need a handout; I need a hand up. If you are feeling worthless, say to yourself, "I must go do something." Be resourceful, more so for your spiritual being than for your physical being.
My Bible tells me, seek you first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. In 3 John 1:2, it says, "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers." You cannot prosper if you are not healthy. You are not feeling prosperous. As a believer, you can say Jesus is my source. He gives me the authority and the capabilities to do everything I need to do in my life. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
In my family, I know of a few males who need to get up and go do something with their lives. I am not going to say they sit around the house all day and do nothing. I am not going to talk about what the problem has manifested, but what God has given me to talk about is the answer to the problem. When you see people in deep poverty, empty-minded, or skill-less without a clue of what to do, the problem is not what we see. It is what we do not see. What we do not see is how we got here.
Strange events are happening in our culture such as have never been seen before. The problem is not the generation. The generation's behavior is a result of the problem. The problem is with the previous generation. It has fed the previous generation and fed this generation. God repeatedly said in the Old Testament in the book of Deuteronomy 6:1, "Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and the judgments which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them." Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my commandments."
People are not observing the things of God today. They are too busy on the internet. Observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, that you may fear the Lord your God. Most people do not fear God. They have no respect for Him. That is the problem in our society today. Keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you. I am commanding you. I am not making you, but I command you. You and your son and your grandson. That is generation to generation.
All the days of your life, let your days be prolonged. We know that young people are dying more quickly than the elderly because of their lifestyle, because of crime, and because of drugs. I did not know until I went down south last year that a lot of people that I grew up with down there are dead. Come to find out, it is that drug Fentanyl. Without God in our view, we can be led anywhere. We can walk through any dark place because we do not have the light. Thank God you have the light.
God gave a command to the male seed because it is the intent of God that men lead their families to Him. Most men today are not leading their children to God. They have left them and abandoned them, which leads them to the devil. They have been left by their fathers to fend for themselves. They are empty without direction, open targets for Satan, learning from the world and not from the kingdom. We fed them self-dependency even with the father in the home.
We fed them the notion that we are not going to chastise them like our parents chastised us. Look where that got us. Our parents were closer to God than we are. We fed them with thoughts like, "My child is not going to be pushing a broom or flipping a burger." That is pride speaking. You can say that, but what did you put in them so they do not be that? You cannot just say it. You have to do something about what you are talking about. If you are not leading to Christ, how can that happen?
When they go looking for a job, they think they are playing Monopoly. they want to go past Go, past experience, and collect $200 without a true foundation because we built them up on a false foundation of "nope" and not hope. Ask them if they have a job. "Nope." That is their reply. Ask them if they know how to fill out a resume. "Nope." That is their reply. Ask them if there are any skills that they can perform and make a living. "Nope." That is their reply.
They are taking some classes. They take classes that last through their 20s and when they are 40 or so, they are still paying for those classes. The world's system is far from God's system, which leads our children far from Him. Many preachers, bishops, and pastors have been talking about how our children go away to college and come back different. If you did not instill in them over here before they go on that side, you would not have to worry about them. It is our job as parents to instill in our children the things of God.
You want to get mad because of what happened. What happened was you did not do what you were supposed to do. Then we want to blame the system. The number one thing we need to learn is not to trust the system. Use what you can in the system but do not trust the system. Trust God. Look at your neighbor and tell them to trust God.
The Bible says, "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it." We are not to take them far from it, but we are to impart them into it. We must go do something and bring them to God so they can go do something and get a job and live responsibly with God as their light. Light is revelation. Our children need revelation. They need revelation because there are some things they just do not know, and they walk into it all willy-nilly. The first thing they say is, "I thought."
Do you all remember Naaman? He went to Elijah to get his leprosy off him. Elijah told him what to do: go into the Jordan River. The Bible says that Naaman said, "I thought he would come out here and touch me and do something with me." He had his mind made up about what the man of God should do for him instead of letting the man of God tell him what God wanted to do for him. We always lean on "I thought." You better stop thinking and start knowing. It is all right to think, but once you get through thinking, make sure you know what you were thinking about.
This generation has very little revelation of the past. That is why they are not knowledgeable as to where they are going for their future. They need direction because too many of them are like a ship without a sail, tossed to and fro by every wind and doctrine. You do not want that to be you. They do not know where to go or whom to turn to. If they were taught to know God, most of the problems in our society would not be so.
When you fail to train your child in the things of God and then the next family next door fails to train their child, it spreads like a rash. Nobody is training their children in the things of God. What do you think happens to that society? What we are experiencing right now is what happens to that society. I have never seen so much depravity on the streets of New York. I was sharing this with some of the young people. I saw a man holding his pants up, but this whole backside was out. He was walking around like an animal.
It almost brought me to tears. You can tell he is not in his right mind, but he is walking. Satan has beat him so low that he has him walking around looking like an animal. We have to be more concerned and we have to indoctrinate these people in our prayers so we can see a change. I have never seen it this bad before in New York, and I have been in New York through the worst times. Crime is not as bad as it was when I was a kid, but depravity is high in this city. The leaders have neglected to take care of the people. They kick them to the curb and say, "Fend for yourself."
We, the church, have to go do something. The crime of this nation is neglect. The sin of man is to neglect God and all that He has for you. This nation now has a notion to abandon its inhabitants and enslave them through poverty. Get your house in order and serve God. When you put all your eggs in one basket, you do not have much to reap from. I am talking to you, the parent, the elder statesmen of the family. I am talking to the sinner and the believer. Do not put your hope in this world. You are better off putting your hope in God so He can multiply you.
The world takes, but it never gives. It will not give you anything unless it takes something first. Solomon says in Ecclesiastes 11:1, "Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days. Giving a servant to seven, and also to eight, for you do not know what evil will be on the earth." Nobody thought this was going to happen, what we are going through right now. If you were prepared and stayed up in Jesus, you are not worried about the man in the White House.
Solomon said you better sow your seed in many places because you do not know what evil is going to come on the earth. That is why you need to get in the word and stay in the word. The best thing that you can do is spend less time on the internet and more time with God. Knowing God prepares you for life with great hopes. There is no hope in "nope." Because there is none, you will have to learn how to cope with life without God, without Jesus. That is burdensome.
We have today multitudes of people around the world who are living without hope because there is a strong famine carving its way through the world. Those who have the answer, which is the church, have been overtaken by the culture of the world, making them less profitable to God. The church was designed to serve the world and God. We are to shelter the world from fear, feed the world the word of God, help clothe the world in righteousness, pray for the world, and open our hearts to the world so Satan does not take the spoils.
Governments were designed originally by God to govern the people through municipalities of righteousness, not corruption, making life easier and bearable. That has now begun to fold on the people and leave them to fend for themselves without God or a government to help them. Just call on Jesus. He will be right there. What do you do when there is a lack of resources to live on? What do you do when your paycheck just pays the bills and does not put food on the table? What do you do when you have to choose the medication you are going to pay for this month because you cannot afford to pay for them all at once?
Psalm 34:8 says, "O taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him." You may not believe this, but you are what you eat. You have two choices in this life: to eat what the world is serving or to eat from feast to feast at the Lord's table. The problem is many people have trusted in the government more than they do the God of heaven. Others have trusted in the god of the dollar and they still holler and complain because they are not satisfied with life. In their world, the dollar rules and Jesus is for fools. They are complaining about the limitations of their dollar, but I have been called to tell you there is no limit to what God can do.
Open your Bibles to Genesis 41:55. When all the land of Egypt was famished, Egypt represents the world, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread. That is what is happening to us right now. This man is taking everything away. He is taking everything away and he wants people to beg him. That is what some people are doing. They are begging him to help them. They are paying him to help them. This Pharaoh spirit is coming. It is here now. Now he is taking everything away, all those things that help you, and he wants you to come to him and beg him for help. How many know God is our helper?
Then Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, "Go to Joseph; whatever he says to you, do." Joseph represents the righteousness of God. Joseph is a type of Christ. What God wants the church to do is to be able to get to the Pharaohs of the nations and influence the Pharaohs of the nations so that influence could cause the Pharaohs of the nations to use the church to help distribute whatever that nation needs.
Joseph opened all the storehouses. The famine was over all the face of the earth, and Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold to the Egyptians, and the famine became severe in the land. The world should be able to come to the church for an answer. Joseph represents the church; Joseph represents Jesus Christ. We know we can go to Jesus Christ for an answer, but can people come to the church and get their answer? The only way they can get their answer is if the church is in line with Jesus.
The famine was all over the earth and Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold to the Egyptians. All the countries came to Joseph in Egypt to buy grain because the famine was severe in all the land. The grain is the answer to their problem. The church is supposed to have the answer to people's problems. Joseph has the answer to the people's problem. Do you have the answer to people's problems? What is the answer? Jesus.
When Jacob saw that there was grain in Egypt, an answer to his problem, Jacob said to his sons, "Why do you look at one another?" That is the problem with the church today. We are looking at one another too much. We are singing to the choir. Why are we looking at each other? There is work out there to do, but we are in here looking at one another all the time. We have to stop looking at one another and go do something. What are you looking at one another for? Go do something.
He said, "Indeed, I have heard that there is grain in Egypt; go down to the place and buy for us there, that we may live and not die." This whole story is about salvation. Grain represents seed, the seed of wheat. Joseph is like Christ. Joseph is the seed of wheat. Who better to distribute wheat than a person who is a type of wheat or a type of grain? He is a type of Christ. The Bible says except a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it abides alone. If it dies and abides alone, what happens? Except a seed dies and goes in the ground, it abideth alone. Joseph is a type of Jesus. Who are they coming to with the answer? Joseph. Jesus is the answer to the world.
Joseph's ten brothers went down to buy grain in Egypt. In the sight of God, ten is a whole number. It is perfect. When ten went, they all went. God says to give a tenth. Your paycheck may be $2,000 but you gave Him a tenth, $200. God looks at the $200 as all the money that you have. Ten represents the whole. Ten is complete numbers. When God asks for a tenth, He sees the tenth as the whole number.
Jacob did not send Joseph's brother Benjamin with his brothers, for he said, "Lest some calamity befall him." Jacob did not trust those boys anymore. They did not come back with Joseph before. This is Joseph's brother and I love Rachel. You all are not going to take both of my boys from me now. He was wise enough not to send Benjamin. He did not trust them because he did not trust that hair-brained story they came up with.
The sons of Israel went to buy grain among those who journeyed, for the famine was in the land of Canaan. Joseph was governor over the land. God wants the church to be governing over the land, but the church has very little say-so in this political world. That is not the way God wants it to be. God put Moses in the midst of a political society with Pharaoh. He told him to tell Pharaoh, "Let my people go." I am sending a governor to you, the governor of my people. "Let my people go." The church should be governing. The church should be in high places. The church should be a voice in our society and we have a tiny voice that needs to be heard.
God is going to allow pressure to come on the earth and people are going to be crying. Can you all imagine in your mind when the flood came and God closed the door? You could just imagine in your mind people scrambling, "Help!" and they are drowning. The water is taking them. "Help us, we want in!" It is too late. You should have listened the first time. We need to listen this time. If God is telling you to get your house in order, if God is telling you to study your word, if God is telling you to draw nearer to Him, you need to do it now because you do not know what evil is going to happen in the earth.
We are not up here preaching and teaching you because we just want to be seen. We have a mission to help you. We have a ministry to help you to see God for who He truly is, to get all the mists and the bugs out of your mind about who God is. You need to know Him for yourself. If you do not know Him, how can you go do something?
The sons of Israel went to buy grain among those journeying from the famine and were in the land of Canaan. Joseph was governor over the land, and it was he who sold to all the people of the land. Joseph's brothers came and bowed down before him with their faces to the earth. Joseph saw his brothers and recognized them, but he acted as a stranger to them and spoke roughly to them. God says if you do not even call on my name, if you do not hardly come to my house, then I am going to treat you as a stranger too. You have to remember they got rid of him. He represents Jesus. In a sense, they got rid of Jesus. They did not want Him. Joseph is the answer.
He said to them, "Where do you come from?" and they said, "From the land of Canaan to buy food." Joseph recognized his brothers, but they did not recognize him. God recognizes you, but there are some people out there who do not recognize God. Do you want to know how I know they do not recognize God? Because the turn of events is proving that God is moving. The things that are happening in the earth right now, God is showing us His hand. Do you recognize Him? He is a spirit, so you cannot be looking for Him with your eyes. I see the change of events that are happening and I remember reading in the word the things that I see happening now. God is telling us to get our stuff packed up, get ready, because He is soon to come back. He is soon to crack the sky. Will you come up with Him?
He asked where they came from. He recognized his brothers. Joseph remembered the dreams which he had dreamed about them and said to them, "You are spies; you have come to see the nakedness of the land." They said to him, "No, my lord, but your servants have come to buy food. We are all one man's sons; we are honest men. Your servants are not spies." Joseph knows that is a lie because they dumped him and sold him into slavery. How are you honest? He said to them, "No, but you have come to see the nakedness of the land." That nakedness means shame, disgrace, and uncleanness. I am trying to figure out why he would do that. He is just throwing them off guard. He is accusing them of something they did not do. He is putting a label on their forehead. How many know God is in the details?
All the countries came to Joseph in Egypt to buy grain because the famine was severe in all the land. Look at the blessing of Isaac upon Jacob. Genesis 27:28 says, "Therefore may God give you of the dew of heaven, of the fatness of the earth, and plenty of grain and wine. Let people serve you and nations bow down to you. Be master over your brethren, and let your mother's sons bow down to you. Cursed be everyone who curses you, and blessed be those who bless you." This is God's will for every believer. You may have siblings and brothers and sisters. You should try to excel them in the things of God. That is what it is saying right here.
God will elevate us to a high place that people have to respect the position and the wisdom that we have, and they will come listen to us because they know we have answers. I want you to understand that with the grain. This whole story is about salvation. Jesus is the grain of wheat that went into the ground. You need the grain to survive. Grain is a part of your salvation.
He said to them, "No, but you have come to see the nakedness of the land." They said, "Your servants are twelve brothers, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and in fact, the youngest is with our father today, and one is no more." Joseph said to them, "It is as I spoke to you, saying, 'You are spies!' In this manner, you shall be tested by the life of Pharaoh. You shall not leave this place unless your youngest brother comes here."
God so loved Joseph that He caused a famine to come on the world so that He could unite Joseph with his family. The family got rid of Joseph, and without Joseph, they fell into famine. What did they do? They got rid of Jesus. Jesus' family got rid of Him. They crucified Him. The same thing they did with Joseph. When Israel crucified Jesus, trouble came all to Israel. The temple was destroyed. There was a spiritual famine in Israel after Jesus was crucified. They were killing the new saints. Then you had Paul trying to kill them. Trouble came to Israel after His death, and just like they got rid of Joseph, trouble came to Israel out here in the wilderness. I am trying to give you an understanding to see how God operates and how what was then is still now. There is nothing new under the sun.
The story goes on and Joseph blesses his family. Genesis 44:1 says, "And he commanded the steward of the house, saying, 'Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man's money in the mouth of his sack. Also put my cup, the silver cup, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest.'" They had to go get Benjamin. He did according to the word that Joseph had spoken. The Bible says he who is least amongst you is what? The greatest. Look what he did for the youngest. He is the least amongst them and look what he did. He gives him a silver cup.
When Jesus comes back, we will be reunited with Him because just like they are being reunited with Joseph, we are going to be reunited with Jesus also. When Jesus comes back, they are not paying for anything. They came to buy food, but Joseph said to put the money back in the basket and give them the grain with it. God will supply all of your needs according to His riches in glory. They did not have to pay one thing. Because they are in covenant with God, that is why they did not have to pay.
Christ is going to crack the sky and when He cracks the sky, we are going to be caught up with Him to meet Him. When we get to heaven, what God is going to do? He is going to give us each our just reward. What is Joseph doing right here? He is giving them what they need. They need salvation. Once he gives them salvation, they have to go back and get the father. How many know there is going to be a feast in heaven? If you read your Bible, they went and got Jacob. When they had Jacob, it was a big party. It was a big feast. This whole story depicts our walk with Jesus and how Jesus sees us barren, how Jesus sees us without, but Jesus has the answer to our problem. All we have to do is come to Him. Didn't they come to Joseph? All we have to do is come to Jesus and He will give us what we need. But we have to go do something. We just cannot stay home twiddling our fingers, looking at one another. We have to go do something.
Isaiah 55 may lighten it up for you. You may get a clearer understanding now. In the Bible, there are hidden mysteries. It is our job as pastors, as preachers, and as teachers to find the hidden mysteries and share them with you. That is why you cannot come to church expecting to be entertained. You have the wrong idea. Did the teacher entertain you in math class? No, she did not. You better get that lesson though, did you not? This is about imparting and giving you instruction so you can be wiser and stronger in the things of God. When you pray, He hears your prayer. When you lay hands on the sick, they do recover. You need to have more of His word in you to perform those acts.
Listen carefully. "Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters." Water gives life. "And you who have no money, come and buy and eat." How are you going to buy something if you do not have any money? How is that? Yes, come, buy wine without money and without price. Remember Daniel and the three Hebrew boys? The word says Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with a portion of the king's delicacies, nor with wine which he drank. Daniel, spiritually speaking, did not want to eat worldly food.
As a believer, the world cannot feed you. It knows not what you need and cannot produce what you need. God is saying, "Come. Do not go to the world for anything. Come to me." Yes, come, buy wine without money and without price. You know what that is? God's grace. The wine represents joy. Does not God give us joy? "Come, buy joy and milk," because that is for the babies. Without money and if it is without money, you have to have faith and without price. That is God's grace because He bought us. Our salvation was paid for by Jesus. We did not pay one thing. "Why do you spend money for what is not bread?" That means it does not feed you. Your life is idle. You are chasing things. It is vanity what you are going after. there is no satisfaction. You wake up in the morning and you are even grumpier than yesterday.
What is not bread? The things that you are involved with. It is not bread. It is not feeding you. Why are you involved in the things that are not feeding you? "And your wages for what does not satisfy?" You end up with no satisfaction. Listen carefully to me and eat what is good. Every good thing comes from above, does it not? Listen carefully to me and eat what is good and let your soul delight itself in abundance. God wants to give much to you.
You see there was a famine in Canaan and they had to go to Egypt to get food. God put Joseph there to supply their need. He is saying right now, "Come to me. Whatever you need, come to me. Do not go to the world. Do not go to the psychic network. Do not go to anybody but to me. Do not trust in the government because the government is showing you it is behind right about now. Come to me and I will show you my face and I will give you my hand."
Let your soul delight itself in abundance. Incline your ear and come to me. I want your ear. Give me your ear. You are putting a whole lot of stuff in there, but you hear very little from me, but you expect me to help you. Faith comes by hearing. Hear and your soul shall live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you. That means it never stops. The blessings keep coming. The sure mercies of David.
"Indeed, I have given him as a witness to the people, a leader, a commander for the people. Surely you shall call a nation and you do not know. Surely you shall call a nation you do not know, and nations who do not know you shall run to you." Because you have what the people need. You have the answers. "Because of the Lord your God and the Holy One of Israel, for He has glorified you." Look at your neighbor and tell them God has glorified you. Is that not a compliment? Are you not glad they told you that?
Seek the Lord while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts. That is what He is telling you. "Go do something." That is something you can do. Go do that. The unrighteous man his thought or his desire. Let him return to the Lord and He will have mercy on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. "For my thoughts," or my desires, "are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways," says the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain comes down and the snow from heaven and do not return there but water the earth and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower."
Does that not give you joy? What is life without joy? "And bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth." All you need is a word from God. It shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, what I desire, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. It is not about your desires; it is about God's desires. That is why your desires should be for God. "For you shall go out with joy and be led out with peace. The mountains," that is the high places, "and the hills shall break forth into singing before you." God desires that you have peace because without it, you cannot hear Him.
Darkness and light cannot dwell in the same place. If you are in darkness, go do something and get some light so you can see where you are going. By the time you get to where you need to be, you might be all banged up and will not enjoy it too long. Turn to Revelations 3:18. "I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in fire, that you may be rich, and white garments that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed, and anoint your eyes with eye salve that you may see."
I counsel you to buy from me. What are you going to use to buy from God? What can you? In order to buy something, you have to give the owner of the store your money and then he gives you what you want. What are you going to give God? You are going to give God your heart. Without a heart, you are not going to have any faith. You give Him your heart first and then He does the rest. You are purchasing what God has for you by giving Him your heart. In return, He gives you a glorious life. He gives you a wonderful life. He puts on you a robe of righteousness.
"And white garments that you may be clothed that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed." Once you do that, I am going to take your sins away. I am going to put a white garment on you. Then your sins will not be revealed because I threw them in a sea of forgetfulness. Your sins I will cover and you will see them no more.
Anoint your eyes with eye salve because you cannot be walking around blind. When you give me what I ask of you, when you buy by my counsel, when you come to me and you buy what I have for you, you are going to be able to see. Your sins are going to be forgiven. You are going to go through the fire. "I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in fire." You have to go through the fire, and the fire is going to test your heart. That is why He is looking for your heart. The fire is going to test your heart. When it gets hot in the kitchen, if you are not meant to be in the kitchen, you are going to run out of that kitchen. If it is meant for you to be in the kitchen, you are going to stay right there. After you have stood, you still stand. You do not run away from it. You do not get upset because things are not going the way you want them to go. You trust God and not man. No matter what man may do to you, God can override them. The best revenge is success, good success.
For some of you, it says first, "buy from me gold refined in fire." To buy anything, you need to purchase it with a credit card or cash, but here in this scripture, you must purchase this with your heart. Give God your heart. That is the best start to doing something. God will never see you poor because He makes rich. The world will see you poor and does not care if it sees you no more.
Look at Revelation 3:14. "And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, 'These things says the Amen.'" The Amen is a person. The Amen is Jesus. "The Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot." You do not want that to be you. I could wish you were cold or hot. "So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth." You are disturbing me. I have to vomit you. You do not even settle in me. Remember Jesus said, "I have food that you know not of. I have meat that you know not of." Jesus wants to taste you. He wants to eat from you. When He eats from you, will you taste good in His mouth? Or will He have to spew you out? You are rotten with stuff all up in you. You do not want that.
Because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth because you say, "I am rich." This church here is a rich church. They have their trust in money. "Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'—I do not need God, my money is my god—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked." People who think they have it going on, you are blind. You need to see where you are going. You think you are happy, but you are not happy. You worship the dollar, but you still holler and complain.
I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in fire that you may be rich. The message is to a church that took on worldly ways. They became rich but naked. If this is you, you go do something to get your soul right with God. If this is not you, go do something and rescue others from the pits of the world so they can get right with God.
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me." All you have to do is open the door. Look at your neighbor and tell them to open the door. As much as we sit in here, and I have heard it through the years, there is always somebody who is really not in God. There is always somebody in church that is really not in God. That is why we have to speak in this manner. "To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne." When Jesus sits on the right hand of God, you are going to be sitting on the right hand of God. "As I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."
People of God, we overcome the world or the evil one by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony. If you want to send the devil a message, write his name on the bottom of your shoes. The devil is no real threat to us. He is a false threat compared to who God is in us. He uses fear to gain access to us, and we use faith to block his access to us. Jesus was never threatened by Satan, and if you have Jesus, you should not be threatened by him either. It is sad to see people give up on God when He is all the help they have.
Turn to John 5. "After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porches." Five is God's grace. "In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years." Three is the number of resurrection; eight is the number of a new beginning.
When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been in that condition a long time, He said to him, "Do you want to be made well?" The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me." Jesus said to him, "You have to go do something. Rise, take up your bed and walk." A bed is a place of resting. The church has been resting too long. It is time for the church to get in the streets. We have been preaching to one another, looking at one another too long. It is time to go out into the streets and bring in the lost at any cost. There is a need and a desire in heaven for those souls, and God put you here to do the work.
How could you easily say, "I am not doing outreach"? How could you easily not show up for outreach? Yes, I am talking to you. How could you easily do that when we are all in here together? I do not care what your plans are. No plan is greater than God's plan. We are one in Christ, so when we go out, we all are supposed to go out. You do not cherry-pick what you want to do for God. God tells you what to do; you do not tell God what you are going to do. Then when we are in trouble, we are full of tears and we wonder why things happened to us. It is because we are hardheaded, because we are rebellious, and because we want to do what we want to do, when we want to do it, the way we want to do it. But that is not God's will for your life. All you are doing is cutting yourself up when you reject the will of God. He knows everything that we have need of, and right now, we need Him more than ever before.
He says, "Rise, take up your bed and walk." Jesus went where they were at. Jesus did not stand in the temple and say, "Come in here." He went out there where they were at. How dare we not go out there where they are at? Immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. On that day was the Sabbath. Jesus gave him a word. God gives us the word, but you have to go do something about the word. Jesus gave him a word and he did something about what he heard. That is the same thing you have to do: do something about what you heard.
Immediately the man was made well, took up his bed and walked, and that day was the Sabbath. The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, "It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed." He answered them, "He who made me well said to me, 'Take up your bed and walk.'" You know what is more important: for that man to walk. The Sabbath was not made for man; the man was not made for the Sabbath. Sabbath was made for man. Then they asked him, "Who is the man who said to you, 'Take up your bed and walk'?" But the one who was healed did not know who it was. Jesus will come to you even if you do not even know Him. That is His mercy. You do not even know Him, but He knows you. The man did not even recognize Him. "I don't know what His name is. All I know is He healed me."
Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. Afterward, Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, "See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you." The man departed—see, you have to go do something—and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. For this reason, the Jews persecuted Jesus and sought to kill Him because He had done these things on the Sabbath. Do you see what tradition does? Do you see what religion does? Religion kills people. Isn't that what killed Jesus? Religious folks. They are always about the law, always about the rules. Jesus came to the world because the world is in a world of trouble and the world cannot get out of its trouble. God is really, with His arm from heaven, reaching down into earth, seeking to pull whoever wants to be pulled up out of the miry clay and place them on the rock to stay, which is Jesus.
According to Jewish laws, three times a year, all males shall appear before the Lord your God in the place which He chooses: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Tabernacles. They shall not appear before the Lord empty-handed. They had to go do something. Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessings of the Lord your God which He has given you. What God is saying to you today: trust Him, try Him, and do not doubt Him. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
They had these feasts that they would go to, and when they would go to these feasts, it was the men who would show up. The men had to bring a blessing to the Lord. Every time we come to the house of the Lord, you should be bringing a blessing to the Lord. Let's face it: most people, even you at times, are living for self-needs, which breaks down the community. Community speaks of unity. It speaks of the unity of people working together for a good common cause. It does not happen when every man is for himself. God put all of us on earth to give that which He deposited in you to others to prosper their lives.
Listen carefully: the older you get, you should be giving things away. You have a lot of people trying to hoard, get all this, buy this, get this, get that. I know somebody who has a whole room full of stuff from the shopping network QVC, still in boxes right now. They have never opened it. That is vanity. I am not lying to you. I know this to be true. The older you get, you should be giving things away. You do not want to be attached to anything here on earth that can possess your soul because you are going to be with the King in heaven. There is something far greater there for you, and it is called a reward, than what you are trying to hold on to down here. You should not be so possessive of what you have. The possessions that you have, the older you get, you should be giving them to people because you do not want your heart to be attached to this earth because of that thing that you love so much. You want to be free of these things of the earth because they are all going to perish. Everything that you see is going to perish: these walls, these lights, everything on earth is going to perish because John said, "I saw a new heaven and a new earth."
Jacob, who is like God here, tells his children to stop looking at one another and go do something. We, as the church, can no longer just sit in the church and look at one another. We must stop preaching to the choir and go preach to the nations because the children of Israel respect their father, and they wanted to do nothing more than to serve their father's wishes. Jacob's son went on a mission to find food to rid themselves of this famine in the world, just like you have to search for spiritual food by studying and living it to rid yourself and family from the spiritual famine that we are all now facing in this world.
The moral famine out there, the financial famine out there, the family famine out there. There are so many people who do not have families. They have families, but they do not respect one another anymore. A love famine: people do not love like they used to. A famine of help: people do not help like they used to. All of these things are out there. When we eat the word, we then go back into the world with a ministry to help others evade the famine that is destined to destroy them.
Go do something. You sit around waiting for something to happen or to come to you. You are starving, thirsty, and need help. Get up and go do something. As a nation of people, we have put much or most of our confidence in the government, very dependent upon it. There is no faith in God, and now that the government cannot supply your needs, you must humble yourself and digress from the world and go forward and make progress in the kingdom of God.
The world seems so appealing, but is so displeasing. Many people are deceived because to them, it is appeasing. The world would say to all of you that the world teases you; it can never please you or take my place. The Lord would say to all of you that the world teases you; it can never please you or take my place. It is full of false hope. Stop looking at one another and go do something. Get the answer to your problem. That is what Jacob did; he told them to go do something, go get the answer to my problem. What did they do? They went and did something and they got the answer to the problem.
That is all you have to do. Go do something, get the answer to your problem. Stop complaining, getting on the phone and talking to everybody about the problem. No, you go do something because they are not going to do anything. All they are going to do is listen to your murmuring and your complaining, but they are not going to help you. Jesus is the answer to my problem. I went and did something about what was bothering me and got my answer. Now I live with Him in heavenly places. Jesus is the answer for the world today; above Him, there is no other. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Go do something. Look at your neighbor and tell them, "Go do something." Go do something.
You know the saying about making a joyful noise unto the Lord. You may not can sing, but you can do that. Do something. We thank God for this word today. I pray that it finds you. I thank you for your patience. Teaching is not always so easy, but what makes it easy is the listeners. We need to be fed. I do not need to be speaking to your emotions; I need to speak to your heart. A lot of people are preaching, hooping and hollering, just reaching people's flesh. If I speak to your heart, I can reach your spirit.
God has blessed this ministry so that we are in a great place now. There is no time to draw back. I love what I see. You all are coming out to Bible class more so. We have a good crowd in here, pretty much the same amount that we have in here now. I thank God for you and for your obedience. God sent this word for you to continue in your obedience so you do not just sit around and do nothing. Remind yourself constantly: I must be about my Father's business. I must be about my Father's business. I love Him that much.
I do not want to leave this earth until my task is done. That is in my prayer: "Lord, I don't want to leave this earth until you use me as you see fit, until I've done all that you wanted me to do. I don't want to leave here with unfinished business." Get that in your heart and minister to people. You can do it subtly and just talk to them about the things of God. I love how people say things to people; they do it subtly and they get their attention. There is joy in that. If you are miserable and mean and looking like a pit bull every day, maybe you need to go do something and get closer to Jesus. If you get closer to Jesus, no angry spirit can stay on you. No complaining spirit can stay on you. No lying spirit can stay on you. We are going to do something about what we believe. Do not tell me you believe in Jesus and you do nothing for Him. Do not tell me you love Jesus and you do nothing for Him. We are not to be picky. We are supposed to do whatever God requires of us to do.
Let us pray. Father God, precious Jesus, you are the strength of our life. You have given us salvation, you have given us a new life, a new way of living, and we are thankful to you for what you do and how you do what you do, Father. Your word have we hidden in our hearts that we might not sin against you, Lord. We want to be better, Father God. We want to do better. Inspire us, Father. I pray that you put fire under us, and I know fire makes anything move. Father, let the fire from heaven be upon us so that we can be heated up for your work and you get the glory out of this work. Your will be done in us and through us. I pray for each and every one under the sound of my voice, even on YouTube. Bless them, teach them, show them so they can tell people that they know you. They cannot talk about you if they do not know you. I pray, Father, that you inspire them to study your word. Inspire them to ask questions and get rid of their pride, trying to fake it like they know so much. They do not want to ask questions because they do not want people to know that they did not know that. Father, remove that spirit from them.
We all are learning. we will never know it all, but help us to understand that you are all in all, all that we need. If we just embrace your love and we take your word in our heart, we cannot lose with the stuff we use. You are so good. You are so kind. You understand us better than we understand ourselves. You tolerate us better than we tolerate people. You are just that kind of God and we love you. We thank you for doing so much for us, enriching our lives, giving us hope for tomorrow. You are a wonder in my soul and I bless you, I praise you, I thank you. You are just that good, just that awesome and mighty.
I dare not cherry-pick my life with you because you placed me in a place of righteousness. You put me, Father God, all of us, in a place where we can reach the lost at any cost. We can touch souls. We can touch the hearts of people by the power that you invested in us. So now, Father, I say this to your people again: go do something. The word of the Lord has been spoken. Go do something. This prayer I do pray in the precious and mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
I just thank God for that word of God from the man of God to remind us that we are supposed to have the answer. The world is in a mess right now and people, I know a lot of you listen to the testimonies, I know a lot of you have people coming to you at the bus stop, on your job, in your neighborhood. They are coming to you for answers because they think that you have the answer. For us to make sure that we have the answer that our people need, we have to get closer ourselves to God so that God can keep us full of answers. You never know what people might need from you. You never know what they may require of you.
Light is revelation. Jesus is the light. We need the light for revelation. We need the light, we need Jesus for the answers that the people need. In Genesis, Joseph was a type of Christ, and as Christians, we all also are supposed to be a type of Christ. Joseph had the answer in the time of famine for the people. We are in spiritual famine, in moral famine, in financial famine, and just like Joseph, we should have the answer for the people. We are supposed to aspire to go to higher places, maybe get spots in government. We have so many college graduates here. Go do something. Become a community leader. Go do something. You have the answer that the people need in this time of famine.
God wants our heart. There is no need for you to be faking it anymore. God wants your heart. Give Him your heart, get close to Him so that He can give you the answers that you need. In John 5, the man lay at the pool for thirty-eight years waiting for somebody to help him, and all Jesus had to tell him was to get up and go do something. Take up this bed and walk, and he was saved. I am saying that God told the man of God it is not going to take us thirty-eight years. We have to get up and go do something. Starting from today, whatever God lays on your heart to help someone, everybody has a ministry. Whatever people come to you for an answer with, God will probably give you that answer in that very same hour. Do not be discouraged. Stay close to God so God can use us to help His people. Amen. Glory be to the glory. Thank you.
