Is it OK to Call for Justice? - What is Justice? Burning Down Cities?

June 4, 2020

The riots across America following the alleged, murderous act taken against a man who had not been convicted of a crime — has resulted in more mayhem and destruction since the Rodney King riots of the 1990s. The constant cry is for “justice.” But what is justice? That’s the million dollar question, and there is only one way to answer it — the objective Law of God. Tyranny plays off on anarchy to produce more unrest and unhappiness across the land — until the nation repents. Pray for this!

The most God-like quality that fills our lives, the most powerful force in our lives is to love. But how does one love like God loves? There are two major hindrances, beaver dams, that clog up the flow of love — our love for God and our love for others. We couldn’t be talking about a greater need, or a greater blessing than this.

Never has this generation (or any of us) experienced anything so traumatic, so devastating, so defining, and so exhilarating as these earthshaking events that have unfolded in the last two months. Economically, socially, ecclesiastically, and politically, the nation is facing massive challenges now. The world is impacted more than any other time since World War II. We take the moment to name the seven most devastating events in history, and the eight greatest events! This program is engaging because His story is always engaging.

When Christian musicians and others walk away from the faith, we don’t recognize the thing they are walking away from. A close examination of Christian musician, Jonathan Steingard’s testimony of apostasy from the faith finds that he wasn’t taught the Bible. The analysis is helpful to better understand the typical vacuous arguments held up against the faith. The problem of evil is not a problem for the biblical Christian, but it remains a problem for every atheist, every materialist, every eastern religionist, and every person who cannot believe in one, true and living, sovereign God over heaven and earth.

The nation is more divided than ever, and the divisions are seeping into the Southern Baptist Denomination, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. As with feminism and homosexuality, the divisions always seem to tie into respect or disrespect for the Law of God. We take apart the Critical Race Theory by a biblical view, and warn of Satanic strategies for creating divisions in the church — Diversions, a Lack of Clarity, a Failure to use God’s Objective Law, and a lack of Holy Spirit visitation.

Why don’t romanticist Christian Artists feel like believing in God anymore? The lead singer of the Hawk Nelson Christian rock band releases his manifesto for fans, and we take a look at the worldview. Does he begin with "I feel," or "God said?" Increasingly, personal feelings trump God’s truth, because the romantic worldview of subjectivity and primacy of the individual dominates. Are your children buying into this worldview?

Pagan spirituality is more and more dominant in the minds of the post-modern Westerners. Man-worshiping humanism is being replaced by the worship of other creatures/creation. This pagan spirituality is creeping into the churches and schools, more now than ever. Listen to this program, and see if you recognize what we’re talking about.

Who do we blame for the coronavirus outbreak? Sin generically? The sin of a nation? Our sin? My sin? Your sin? Sin, as defined by anybody out there? John Piper calls it a thunderclap calling us to repentance. But, N.T. Wright says it is to teach us lament over suffering in the world? But, we’re asking. . .What would Jesus say about it?

What makes for a solid church? Not a revolutionary church — but a reformation? We revisit the scandals that are taking apart the young, restless, and reformed churches, and the youth-led movements. The New and Exciting, the Latest and Greatest, the Movements, the Youth-Driven Thing, the Exclusive New Cool Church — these things tend to fizzle fast. What is thought to be a reformation turns out to be another cultural revolution with devastating effects. It turns out what we really need is the Holy Spirit, long term discipleship, really unpopular preaching that doesn’t scratch ears, and real faith — nothing spectacular except God doing supernatural things in people’s lives over the long haul.

The president announced on Fox Business the government’s plans to mobilize the military with “tremendous force” to vaccinate the country. We discuss the history of the Posse Comitatus Act, and then study the matter of forced vaccinations from Supreme Court decisions in the past, from history and biblical principle. How might Christians seek an island of freedom, and is this worth pursuing as forced vaccinations appear to be an increasingly realistic scenario? Certain vaccines are bothersome to Christians, especially if they were made with aborted fetal tissue, or if there was a measurable risk of breaking the 6th commandment (as in harming the person being immunized). What is the value of seeking liberty for families to make these decisions?

Governments are concerned about your health records, your immunizations, your communications, etc., especially if you are going to cross state and national borders. Were George Orwell and Aldous Huxley right in their “prophetic” announcements of the Brave New World in 1984 or 2024? The national government's take of the GDP has risen from 0.3% to 25% in 100 years — ten times the involvement in our lives of what George Orwell experienced in the 1930s. Man’s relation with the state will only increase as his relationships in family, church, and community dissolves. This is the trend, and not much is slowing it down now. But, will God exempt His people from some of this? Will there be an island of freedom for us? Orwell forgot to include a sovereign God over all in his little story.
